It's surreal to me that next week is already Christmas! This has always been my favorite time of the year because everyone seems to be in a good mood around the holidays and just a little bit nicer. I'm very excited to spend some quality time with my loved ones during this holiday season and I am reminded of holidays past and favorite memories with my husband and my sons. Both of my sons are now teenagers but I think they continue to love some of the traditions that we have repeated year after year. Part of spending time together during the holidays has always included watching Christmas movies together and really getting into the holiday spirit. We've been planning our holiday movie lineup as we approach our upcoming vacation from work and school next week here in New York City. On our list of movies to watch is the all NEW Hallmark Movies Now Original Movie, "Sugar Plum Twist" on HMNow and Premieres Dec. 17th on Hallmark Channel! It features Professional … [Read more...]

Candyman – In Theaters Now! #CandymanMovie
I've always been a huge fan of the horror/thriller movie genre and there are some cult classics which have been on my "favorites" list for years. The original Candyman film has always been on that list so I was thrilled to find out that Jordan Peele unleashed a fresh take on the blood-chilling urban legend. The film focuses on the residents of the housing projects of Chicago's Cabrini-Green neighborhood and how they were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times in a mirror. In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy and his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright unknowingly open a door to a complex past that unleashes a terrifying wave of violence. Introduce A New Generation To Dumbo! #Ad
There are just certain films which stand out as being an important part of one's childhood because of the impact that they had. In my case, I can say that Dumbo has been one of those movies for me. It definitely was one of my favorites when I was a young girl and, aside from loving all of its characters, I've always been touched by the relationship between Dumbo and his mother. Now that I am a mom, this resonates with me even more. As a result of these fond memories, I am so excited to announce that DUMBO, the grand live-action adventure from Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, which expanded on the beloved animated classic and sent spirits soaring, becomes available on June 25. An all new generation can fall in love with this heartfelt story when it swoops into homes on Digital in HD and 4K Ultra HD and Movies Anywhere, and physically on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD - with never-before-seen bonus features, deleted scenes, bloopers and more! In “Dumbo,” struggling … [Read more...]

Experience Interactive Storytelling On Netflix! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
As many of you know, I have been a Literacy Specialist in New York City public schools for over seventeen years. Throughout my tenure, I have had a first-hand look at how reading affects children positively in every aspect of their life. As a result, I am always on the lookout for opportunities for kids to improve their comprehension through creativity. Netflix has recently announced their first interactive "branching" narrative episodes Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale and Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile, where Netflix members have control over how the story develops and ultimately unfolds. Non-linear stories like these allow children to tap into their imagination and to really think about the story elements and events taking place involving the characters. My son and I recently had the opportunity to be among the first Netflix Stream Teamers to experience this interactive storytelling together. As an educator, it was so rewarding to see him so engaged … [Read more...]
