Are you ready for the exciting next chapter in Netflix content? I am so excited about being a part of celebrating the debut of the Netflix original series, Anne With an E, based on the beloved book series Anne of Green Gables. As a Literacy Specialist, I always enjoy when some of my favorite books are made into television series that different generations can enjoy and fall in love with. Anne With an E is a coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all odds and many challenges, fights for love and acceptance and her place in the world. Set in Prince Edward Island in the late 1890s, the series centers on Anne Shirley (Amybeth McNulty), a young orphaned girl who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an aging sister and brother. Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform the lives of Marilla (Geraldine James) and Matthew Cuthbert (R.H. Thomson) and eventually the entire small town in which they … [Read more...]

Are You A Netflix Cheater? #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
It feels like I can never enjoy my favorite Netflix shows because my husband always ends us liking what I'm watching and then tells me not to keep watching without him. Now, it is not that I don't want to spend time with my Hubby but our schedules sometimes conflict and I find myself wanting to watch without him. Yes, I admit it, I have been tempted to become a Netflix cheater! However, I have not given in to these desires or, at the very least, I've never gotten caught cheating, wink, wink. That is why it was so upsetting to find out that my beloved spouse has been cheating on me behind my back and watching OUR Netflix shows without me. You would think that there would be more trust between us after eighteen years. The truth is that we have all cheated. In fact, 46% of viewers are cheating right now—with their favorite Netflix shows. And it’s not just parents who are culprits of the crime, cheaters come in … [Read more...]
Help Your Kids Learn Big Lessons! #BeatBugs #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
Summer is almost over and we are really excited about enjoying the last big weekend of the vacation together as a family for Labor Day. My ten year-old son absolutely loves the Beat Bugs so we have been practicing his rendition of one of the Beatles most iconic songs. Not only is it a classic song about love and acceptance, but it's by the legendary Beatles so we are also instilling a love of good music in our kids. My husband and I believe that music and entertainment are great ways to come together as a family. That is exactly why one of our favorite things to do is watch shows together and share memories about our childhood with our boys, including the music that we used to listen to when we were younger. With the new Netflix original series Beat Bugs, inspired by the music of the Beatles, your next family sing-along can be “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” Thanks to five charming and energetic … [Read more...]
What’s The Craziest Place You’ve Watched Netflix? #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
In the bathroom? Under the covers? Where have you done it? We know there are only so many times you can hear the Dinotrux theme song before you start sneaking off to binge the new season of Orange is the New Black in the bathtub or "do work in the garage" while you secretly watch Voltron: Legendary Defender. Don't be ashamed, moms and dads, you're definitely not alone. In our house, it's basically get your Netflix time in whenever you can. Since we all love watching our favorite shows and we have three televisions in the home, you would think that there would be plenty of opportunities for all of us to watch Netflix. Unfortunately, my two sons pretty much monopolize two of our TVs and my husband likes to come in from work and take over the living room. As a result, I often have to sneak my viewing time in every chance I get. So, since it is time for confessions, I guess I should divulge what some of the craziest places … [Read more...]
Annedroids Inspires Kids Using STEM Curriculum! @KidzVuz #Ad
I have been an educator for over fifteen years and I can't even begin to tell you how important exposing kids to a STEM curriculum centered around science, technology, engineering, and math is to their academic development. This is why the teacher in me loves the new Emmy nominated Annedroids on Amazon. Season three airs June 24th on Amazon Prime Video and features characters that encompass what a female role model should be. It is through the trial and error of using science and technology that the main character builds androids with some help from her friends. As I previewed Season 3, I immediately fell in love with the show's protagonist, Anne. She is a genius who uses her skills as a tween scientist to invent and bring to life these androids while her besties Nick and Shania lend a helping hand. It is easy to see how close they are to one another when they unite with their android friends to make sure that the junkyard … [Read more...]

The new Amazon Original Series, Wishenpoof, will be available for Amazon Prime members beginning on August 14th, and is perfect for curious preschoolers like my nephew. Let me tell you a little bit about it before its Amazon Prime debut! What Does Your Modern Family Look Like? #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
These days, modern families come in many varieties. Gone are the days of cookie-cutter, "Nuclear" families and, in their place, are so many wonderful possibilities for what a family unit looks like. Although my husband and I fit into the traditional mother, father and kids dynamic, we both come from extended families that are very non-traditional and this continues to enrich both of our boys on a daily basis. It has allowed our kids to respect and appreciate everyone, regardless of whether they are traditional or non-traditional. My husband actually comes from a blended family so he grew up with stepparents and step siblings which allowed him to be surrounded by a lot of love and many positive role models. Marrying him opened my eyes to all the wonderful attributes of families that might seem quirky but are truly perfectly imperfect in many ways. I've learned that the details of how the family is structured matter a lot less than all the love and support that each, … [Read more...]

As many of you know, I've been a Literacy Specialist for over fifteen years. When it comes to literacy and language acquisition, there aren't many subjects that are as near and dear to me as this one. I've always been a huge advocate of programs and toys that provide children with the educational opportunities to enhance their academic skills. Since both of our boys were babies, we have always monitored their television viewing and made sure that they watch programs that have some kind of educational value. Take Time Out For Yourself And Put Your Feet Up! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Netflix. As a member of the Netflix Stream Team, I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating. Although Summer Vacation began this past week here in New York City, parenting is a 24/7 job! That is why taking time out for yourself helps keep you strong for your family. This month I'm switching gears and making the focus some time to myself for a change. Most of my favorite shows are on hiatus, but Netflix has a selection of titles to get me through the summer months. And yes, that includes all-new episodes of some of my favorite Netflix originals -- Orange Is the New Black season 2 launched June 6th! I plan on waiting until the kids are asleep for the night and then relaxing with one of my favorite new shows. Here are some of the titles I have heard about but I haven't yet had time to watch but plan to this Summer: 1. Orange Is the New Black 2. Scandal 3. Pretty Little Liars 4. Sherlock 5. Breaking … [Read more...]
