*This post is brought to you by The Motherhood and Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone. All opinions are my own. Having a child with a chronic medical illness is extremely difficult. As parents, we never want our children to be ill and we want to make them better right away whenever they do get sick. As many of you know, my younger son has had Benign Rolandic Epilepsy since he was eight years old. I can still remember the first time I witnessed him having a seizure, it was one of the worst moments of my entire life. As a result of his illness, we have spent quite a bit of time at the hospital having him tested as well as taking him to the Emergency Room. As I navigated the medical system at our local children’s hospital, I learned that one of the best things that parents can do for their children is to advocate for them to receive the best care from the best doctors. It’s so important to choose the right children’s hospital to entrust with the care of your … [Read more...]

Remove Snow Safely This Winter
How will you remove snow safely this winter? Once again, New York City is scheduled to get some snowstorms this weekend for the New Year. It's something us New Yorkers are used to with the kinds of winters we get around these parts but they still require some preparation on our part. Many people are unaware that removing snow can become a dangerous task and should be done with some caution. Unfortunately, we learned this lesson the hard way when the father of an old friend of ours suffered a heart attack while shoveling snow in front of their home. He subsequently died as a result and it was sobering to think that something like snow removal could prove to be such a perilous activity. Studies show that shoveling snow can increase a person's risk of having a heart attack. Additionally, there are other injuries that can arise from clearing snow including pulled muscles, broken bones, and hypothermia. There are some precautions that one can take to decrease these … [Read more...]
Spider-Man Homecoming Is A Must See Movie! #SpiderManHomecoming #Ad
I have to admit, I have never been a big fan of the Spider-Man movies over the years. While I have always considered him to be an engaging superhero, I just didn't think all of the previous films did his character justice. Despite this, I wanted to keep an open mind when heading to the screening of the new Spider-Man Homecoming movie. I'm so glad that I did because it literally blew my mind how good this movie was! The factors that made a difference for me with regards to how much I enjoyed Spider-Man Homecoming were its great cast and the fact that it displayed the perfect combination of action and humor. Actor Tom Holland was the perfect choice to play young Peter Parker/Spider-Man because of his innate goofiness and sincerity. He did a great job of navigating his role of the web-slinging super hero as well as the awkward teenager in this movie. As Peter, he is thrilled by his experience with the Avengers and returns home where he lives with his Aunt May, played … [Read more...]
Bring Your Kids To A NY Liberty Game! #ShowUp @NYLiberty @KidzVuz #Ad
Last week my family had the pleasure of going to see a NY Liberty game at Madison Square Garden. Although we are native New Yorkers, we don't often get to go cheer on our home teams due to our everyday work and school schedules. Thankfully, the summertime is the perfect time to share these activities together. My husband, father in law and son all decided that they would go see the game together since they are all huge basketball fans. It was so sweet to see three generations of the men in this family heading out to watch the NY Liberty do their thing. The Liberty have qualified for the WNBA Playoffs in 13 of its 19 years. This is a fact that my son won't let me forget. Led by Head Coach Bill Laimbeer, the Liberty are determined to improve on last year’s performance with top WNBA talent like Tina Charles, Epiphanny Prince and Essence Carson, veterans like Swin Cash and Tanisha Wright, as well as new … [Read more...]
Adventures Of A New York City Family In The Mazda CX-9! #DriveSTI @MazdaUSA @DriveSTI #Ad
It's no secret that we had an extremely rough winter here in New York City. Aside from our hectic schedules throughout the work week, we also had to maneuver around all the snow and harsh weather to plan creative outings as a family. The Mazda CX-9 was the perfect fit for our family to be able to spend quality time together this season! Not to mention its gorgeous leather trim interior which was love at first sight for my husband and I! Since I have an eleven year-old and a nine year-old, they always want to invite their friends and cousins on outings with the family. That usually means that, aside from our medium-sized family of four, Hubby and I have to make sure that we have enough room in the car to safely accommodate everyone on road trips. After all, not having enough space can make us lose serious cool points with the Tweens! So we all packed in to the Mazda CX-9 and headed around New York for some weekend fun. If you are familiar with the area … [Read more...]
Winter Fashion Tips For Kids! #Troop8X #HTC8X
When it comes to dressing warmly during the Winter, my boys drive me completely crazy. Sure, I always make sure that they have all the warm coats, hats, scarves, and gloves that they need to wear during the cold weather. Whether or not they actually wear them all the time or keep from losing them a few times throughout the season, is another story. As you can see from the photo below, it can get quite cold and frosty during the winter months here in New York City. We experience cold conditions along with snow and freezing rain. It's important to not only keep warm during this weather but to also look great doing it! When it comes to kids, nothing says fashionable like donning outerwear and accessories that have their favorite cartoon characters on them. My younger son loves wearing his Angry Birds hat and, thank goodness, because it's the only one he will wear this Winter! On the other hand, the best way to get my older son to cover his head … [Read more...]
