What Inspired You To Start Blogging?

Take a journey with me back to 2009, if you will.  I was 32 years old with a 3 year old and a 6 year old while battling a chronic medical condition.  Over the years, I have always considered myself to be a writer and used writing as a way to vent and to express myself.  It was a natural progression for me to document this new journey that I was on and blogging about it seemed like a great idea.     I can still remember when I wrote my first post.  It felt so good to get all of my thoughts and feelings out but I worried about how they would be received and perceived.  On one hand, I couldn't believe that anyone would even want to read anything I wrote and, on the other hand, I was terrified of revealing too much of myself and being criticized.  As a result, I quickly deleted that first post shortly after I published it.  This is something that I regret to this day because I would have liked to be able to reflect on how much I have grown from that first time I blogged.     … [Read more...]

Celebrate The Women Of Steel In Your Life! @SamsungTweets #Samsung #Sponsored

This is a compensated campaign on behalf of Samsung Home Appliances U.S.A.  All opinions are 100% mine.     Six years ago, my life was rocked with a Cancer diagnosis and I really didn't know what to do or who to turn to.  Being a teacher and a lifelong student, I decided to become proactive about my health and my mental state and I researched cancer support groups online to connect with others who were going through the same struggles.     One of the angels whom I met was Mike Tufo.  He was a Synovial Sarcoma Survivor and we would chat online during the wee morning hours about all of the concerns that were keeping us up at night.  He was an amazing man who loved his sweetheart Dianne and their four sons.     I can still recall how he would comfort me and give me hope during those dark early days when I was first diagnosed.  While he was fighting for his own life, he still found time to support others and be a mentor.  Unfortunately, Mike passed away on December 1st, 2009 after 19 … [Read more...]
