I've been an educator for the last fifteen years. During that time, I have always made sure to encourage all of my students to reach for the stars and to strive to accomplish short-term and long-term goals. It is especially important to support students in pursuing careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professions. I'm aware that there is indeed a shortage of inner-city, Latino, and female students who are going into these fields. Science projects and classroom experiments are often the first opportunity that our children have to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related activities.
