    I recently had the opportunity to visit the Domino's World Resource Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan and I am excited to tell you about all I learned during my two days there. I have loved Domino's pizza for years and was thrilled to learn just how dynamic of a company they truly are.    Domino's Pizza started as a single store back in 1960 and today they are recognized as the world leader in pizza delivery. Back in 1960, Tom Monaghan and brother, James, purchase "DomiNick's," a pizza store in Ypsilanti, Mich. Monaghan borrowed $500 to buy the store. In 1961 James trades his half of the business to Tom for a Volkswagen Beetle. Then in 1965, Tom, the sole owner of the company, renames the business "Domino's Pizza, Inc."     October was National Pizza Month and us New Yorkers sure know a thing or to about making and eating pizza!  It was first observed in the United States in 1984 by Gerry Durnell, the founder of Pizza Today magazine.  He chose this month to pay homage to this favorite American food because this was the month that his magazine published their first issue.     According to Pizza.com there are an estimated 63,000 pizzerias located throughout the U.S.  This translates into 94% of all Americans eating pizza at least once a month.  Many families enjoy preparing pizza right at home and this is a great opportunity and excuse to involve your kids in preparing a meal that the whole family will love.     Cooking with your children is a great way to take advantage of a "teachable moment."  You can use this time to discuss your family history or to share traditional family recipes with your them.  Cooking also helps you teach your kids about proper kitchen safety and handling of cooking tools. … [Read more...]
