Celebrate Your Favorite Furry Friend! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad

I'd been trying to convince my husband to get a pet for our family for years.  Three years ago, he finally gave in and we all went to adopt a dog from our local rescue shelter.  We wanted to save the life of a pet that might otherwise be euthanized due to the limited space that there is at shelters.     Also, we knew that we were guaranteed to get a healthy pet from a shelter because most shelters examine and give vaccinations to animals when they arrive, and many spay or neuter them before being adopted.  As soon as we arrived, we knew that we had made the right decision.     As we were walking around all the dog cages, a cute black puppy caught our eye.  I guess we made an impression on him too because he started biting the newspaper that was lining the bottom of his cage and spitting it at us to get our attention.  After playing with him for a little while, we immediately fell in love and promptly adopted "Onyx" and, as you can see from the photo above, the kids and I weren't … [Read more...]

Make Your Pet Healthy From The Inside Out! #AvoDermGlow @AvoDermNatural #Giveaway #Sponsored

*This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with AvoDerm Dog & Cat Food. All opinions are 100% mine.      Three years ago, our family decided that we wanted to welcome a new member into our home.  Being that we donate regularly to our local rescue shelter, we knew that adopting a rescue dog was the right decision for us.  We headed out to the shelter as a family and finally chose our new pet, Onyx.  His name is extremely fitting because his fur is predominantly black except for a patch of white fur along his stomach and chest.     As soon as we brought Onyx home, he went about making himself comfortable right away.  Since the beginning, he has always been a handful and regularly helps himself to any slippers or socks that are left unattended.  I like to say that his behavior was part of being a puppy but, now that he is three years old, he still takes these things and I have to admit that he is not at all well behaved.     We take very special care of Onyx and that … [Read more...]

CESAR® Cookie Crunchies Treats For Dogs

We have a one year old half Labrador, half American Pit Bull Terrier named Onyx.  He is very much loved in our household and has really become another member of the family.  The only problem is that he doesn't always behave the way that he should and we have been working with him to follow simple commands using positive reinforcement.     When he complies with or obeys a command, we give him a dog treat.  Onyx, however, does not just eat any treat and has an extremely picky palate.  As a result, we were very hopeful and excited about trying new CESAR® Cookie Crunchies treats for dogs.     These baked treats come in two flavors including Rotisserie Chicken Flavor and Filet Mignon Flavor.  Each bag comes with 130 pieces and, at just 10 calories per piece, you can give your dog more treats per day without having to worry about excessive calories.  We loved the small, bite-sized shapes of the treats which are hearts, paw prints, and bones.     Since we love Onyx so much and … [Read more...]

Woman’s Best Friend

Lately I have been thinking more and more about the possibility of bringing a pet into the house.  I have weighed all of the pros and cons and have decided that everything points to the fact that it is time to adopt a dog.  Unfortunately, my better half disagrees and he has put his foot down and stated that we will not be getting any pets anytime soon.  Now, normally, when hubby puts his foot down I just smile and do the complete opposite of whatever it is that he has forbidden from doing.  This time is a little bit different because, although I think he is being somewhat unreasonable, he does raise some good points as to why he does not want to have a pet in our home.     You see, this is not our first experience with owning pets and I have been known to take in strays should the need arise.  I have to admit that my love of animals has gotten us into more hairy predicaments than I would care to admit. (No pun intended)  However, in all fairness to me, not all of the pet … [Read more...]
