*This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Huggies® and Latina Mom Bloggers. However, all opinions expressed are my own. Any mom can tell you that keeping up with kids is no easy task. My boys are no exception and they seem to be blessed with an endless supply of energy that just keeps going and going all day long. Since I have a full-time career as an educator, Blogger, and mom, I am always being pulled in all directions and it is definitely taxing to run after my boys and to take them to all their activities on a daily basis. I think the key to staying active when you have kids is to try to take better care of yourself and to increase your physical activity during the week from the time that your children are little. The minute both of my boys started walking I knew I was going to be in trouble if I didn't make it my business to be more active in order to try to keep up with their energetic pace. For this very reason, Huggies® is partnering with leading fitness … [Read more...]
Face Your Allergies While Staying Beautiful! #EnfrentaTusAlergias #ZYRTEC #Ad
*I wrote this post as part of my participation in a blog tour for Latina Mom Bloggers on behalf of ZYRTEC® ALLERGY FACE® and received compensation to thank me for taking the time to participate. However, all opinions expressed are my own. I normally wear disposable contacts when I am not at home. This past week, my allergies have been wreaking havoc on my eyes and I had to wear my glasses because they were itchy, watery, and scratchy. I am not a happy camper because I love donning my sunglasses during the warm weather months and this whole allergy situation is totally cramping my style. Don't even get me started on some of my other allergy symptoms including constantly sneezing, spontaneous red blotches on my skin, and a post-nasal drip. I mean really, is this really the price that we have to pay to just be able to enjoy a little sun and some warm weather? Well I, for one, am not giving up without a fight and I plan to look beautiful this season despite my allergies! A … [Read more...]
When Life Gets Tough, I Rise Above It And Get Tougher! #RiseAboveIt #NoTeRindas #Ad
This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Pine-Sol® and Latina Bloggers Connect. When I was 30 years old, two things happened to me that year, I gave birth to my youngest son and I found out I had cancer. If it is shocking for you to read that, imagine how shocking and bitter-sweet it was for me to go through one of the most joyous events in my life while, at the same time, going through one of the most devastating things that could possibly happen to me. Unfortunately, I didn't have the luxury of falling apart because I had a three year-old and a newborn that needed me to keep it together. I remember the weekend after my diagnosis, I lay in bed feeling sorry for myself and wondering why this would happen to me. After a while, I realized that the answer was "Why not me?" People go through tragedies and receive bad news regularly so what made me exempt from it? At that moment I decided that I was going to stay strong and rise above my cancer diagnosis, not … [Read more...]
Everything You Need For Cough And Cold Season Is At @Walgreens #WalgreensLatino #Ad
Disclosure: This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and Walgreens. However, all opinions expressed are my own. I've been really trying to protect myself against cough and cold season because, as an educator, I am exposed to hundreds of germs on a daily basis. Almost every year, I get a cold around this time and I'm hoping that this year will be different. Luckily, I know exactly where to go when I need any products to tackle my cough and my cold head on. Walgreens has always stocked all of my favorite and trusted cough and cold medicines which always help in making being sick a little less miserable. Since I have been working as a teacher for over thirteen years, I have managed to pick up a few tips here and there to help avoid catching a cold. Here are some of the things that I do in my own classroom to help the spread of germs: Wash your hands as often as possible and avoid touching your face in between washings. Keep tissues … [Read more...]
Pass The Purple Purse To Raise Money For Domestic Violence Victims! #PurplePurse #Sponsored
*This sponsored post was written by me in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and The Allstate Foundation. All opinions are 100% mine. Many people are unaware that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Unfortunately, many of us have been affected personally by domestic violence, myself included. Back in high school, I had a good friend who was being abused by her boyfriend and I recall how frustrated I felt and how worried I was for her welfare. I just couldn't understand how she could continue to stay with someone who was treating her this way and I didn't know how I could help her. WHEN IS IT TIME TO GET HELP? The scariest moment for me was when her boyfriend beat her in the car with his friends present and then kicked her out of the car. As she recounted the story to me and I gazed upon her badly bruised face, I knew that I had to do something to help her because I was afraid that he was going to kill her. I was able to get help from teachers whom … [Read more...]
Back To School With Kleenex And Box Tops For Education! #KleenexBTS #Ad
*This sponsored post was written by me in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and Kleenex. All opinions are 100% mine. Although we don't go back to school here in New York City until the beginning of September, many places across the country are preparing to begin school soon. All parents and students understand the importance of preparing for the beginning of the school year and making sure that kids have all of the necessary materials and resources to help them begin their new grade successfully. As an educator and parent, one of my concerns when it's time for Back to School is making sure to decrease the spread of germs as much as possible. Kleenex brand is supporting the Back to School season by supporting healthy kids in the classroom with their Everyday Tissue with Sneeze Shield. Not only is their tissue extremely soft but it's also a very useful in the classroom because it helps to decrease the spreading of germs. This is accomplished through their … [Read more...]
The True Definition of Beauty! #DoveInspired
As an educator, I get to see first-hand what happens to young girls who have low or poor self-esteem. Almost immediately, not feeling good about themselves catapults them into a downward spiral that they cannot always recover from. This is especially true during adolescence when the added factors of going through puberty and peer pressure cause many young girls to doubt their own self-worth. Many of my female students come to me to share their feelings about not being pretty enough, about not being as beautiful as their friends, or wondering why certain boys are not interested in them. Notice that all of these feelings stem from what they think other people's perception is of who they are or whether they are good enough. The thing that is lacking from this equation is a feeling of love and worthiness from within. The problem is that a lot of young girls have not been taught how to love and value themselves first. We need to teach young girls and young women that they … [Read more...]
Stiletto Media’s Kick Off Your Heels 12′ Party Recap #SMLatinas
As many of you already know, I have proudly been blogging as a member of Stiletto Media for quite some time. I'm proud to be a part of such an amazing and talented group of Latinas and we also know how to get together and have a great time! This year I was invited to attend Kick Off Your Heels 12' which was a held on August 2, 2012 from 6-8 P.M. It was hosted by Stiletto Media at Pio Pio Peruvian Restaurant which is located at 604 10th Ave. between 43rd and 44th Streets in New York City. This event allowed all of us to network with one another and to strengthen our already wonderful relationships while enjoying Latin cuisine and sangria. I cannot even begin to explain to you all how rewarding it was to enjoy this celebratory time with my colleagues in an informal environment without the pressure of professional deadlines or time constraints. I felt like a VIP as I walked to the back of the restaurant and descended a staircase laden with tea candles on every … [Read more...]
