It’s The Journey That Counts…(Gas Card Giveaway) #kiasocialclub

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Kia Motors     There are many ways to spend time with your children without having to spend a lot of money.  At the end of the day, your kids care more about just having those special moments with you than they do about where you spend them.  It's important to remember that you can create a fun environment just about anywhere as long as you get a little creative and use your imagination.     Believe it or not, your car is a great place to have adventures.  Whether you are headed somewhere and make a family adventure out of that trip or you simply pop up the back door of your van or SUV on a beautiful night so you can sit and look at the stars, it can be a great place to spend time together.  I can still recall the wonderful memories I have of driving long distances with my parents and singing all of our favorite oldies together.     My boys love sitting in our car and pretending that they are driving it or using their imagination … [Read more...]

Family Adventures In The Car! #kiasocialclub

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Kia Motors     When my older son was a baby, he suffered from colic and was constantly crying.  As a new mother, the worst time for me was when I had to drive him anywhere because he would fuss and scream from his carseat in the rear seat.  I would find myself constantly stopping the car and pulling over to comfort and soothe him.     As time went on, I quickly realized that whenever I stopped at a stoplight or for a STOP sign, he would start screaming at the top of his lungs.  It became apparent that driving around was soothing to him somehow and that he mostly became agitated whenever I hit the brakes.     So driving around in the car became a saving grace for me, especially when he was particularly colicky and wouldn't stop crying no matter what I did.  I would load him up in the car and drive around for awhile in order to make him less agitated.  Eventually, as if by magic, he would always stop crying and fall into a peaceful … [Read more...]

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Kia Motors     The holidays are coming and many of you are probably planning some road trips that will take you to the homes of friends or family members in order to spend this special time with them.  If you have children like we do, planning for a road trip can become a little more complicated.     After all, children do not have the patience that adults have when it comes to sitting in a car for hours.  As a result, parents have to get creative when it comes to making sure that their children are kept happy and content throughout the long ride.  Being that we have taken many road trips with our children, there are some special steps that we always take to make these rides run a lot more smoothly.     We have found that planning in advance for the music that we play in the car makes a world of difference.  Our boys love to sing along with Christmas Carrols and holiday music so we always pack a variety of CDs that they can sing … [Read more...]

Tips For A Great Road Trip Experience! #KiaSocialClub

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Kia Motors     One of my most memorable road trips took place when we drove across Spain to visit France.  As you can imagine, we were all very excited, after all, it's not every day that one gets to drive across Europe.  Once we arrived at our destination we had a great time but the road trip itself was far from stellar.  There were many things that we could have done differently to make the trip itself a lot more comfortable and we definitely learned a few things about planning for road trips in the future.     First and foremost, we should have come up with a much better plan for having our meals.  Although we packed a few snacks, we were totally unprepared for how much food and drinks we would need throughout the ride.  As a result, we had to stop often to purchase food and this put a huge dent in our vacation budget.  Next time, we will spend the extra money buying a cooler which will keep everything cold and buy easy snacks … [Read more...]
