Cooking is the way to many people's hearts and this is especially true in Hispanic culture. Huddling up around the kitchen for family holidays is a common sight in Latino families. In our family, we like to all contribute a dish when we get together. I've always loved this because it has allowed me to focus on spending time with my loved ones instead of slaving in the kitchen the whole time. Plus, since everyone in our family has a signature dish that they are really good at preparing, we all have the opportunity to sample a little bit of everything. As we approach Hispanic Heritage Month, it's important to celebrate the Hispanic foods and products that are staples in our homes and that have accompanied these family traditions for years. Chef Merito is a family-owned business that feature a full line of special seasonings, spices and herbs. The products combine only the freshest and highest quality spices and are dedicated to enhance authentic Latin American, Mexican, and … [Read more...]

*This post was written by me on behalf of McCormick Spices and IMUSA Cookware. I received complimentary product samples to facilitate this review. All opinions are 100% mine. You all know that we have been very busy celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month around these parts for the past few weeks. What Hispanic Heritage celebration would be complete without sharing some of our favorite Latin dishes? After all, a huge part of the Latin culture revolves around food and families getting together to enjoy meals and spend some quality time together. Growing up in Spain, I can still remember sitting in the kitchen and watching my grandmother preparing all of our family's meals. She would pour her heart and soul into those recipes and the best ingredient in all of them was the love that she infused into preparing each and every single one. It was almost as if that was the secret ingredient. As an adult, I now know that that spices that she used played a big part in creating … [Read more...]

Celebrate The History Of Latino Americans! @FordEspanol @PBS #LatinosPBS #LatinosFord
This is part of a compensated campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Ford. However, all opinions expressed are my own. Last week, I shared a very special experience with my two sons who are ages seven and ten. We sat down as a family and watched the second episode in the PBS series Latino Americans which kicked off our official celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to spend quality time as a family and to reflect on the many contributions that Latinos have made over the last 500 years. This episode focused on the struggles that Latinos encountered during the World War II years and years that followed the war. Although many Latinos proudly served this country and defended it during the war, they were still discriminated against and had to fight for civil rights during this time. We also learned about how Latinos from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Cuba came to the United States looking for better opportunities for their … [Read more...]
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month As A Family @FordEspanol @PBS #LatinosPBS #LatinosFord
*This is part of a compensated campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Ford. However, all opinions expressed are my own. Family is very important in the Latino culture. We pride ourselves on always being there for one another and passing down our customs and heritage from one generation to the next. In our home, our sons are blessed to be mixed with Spaniard, Cuban, and Puerto Rican. My husband and I think it is important for both of them to know about their roots so we work very hard to instill these cultural values in them throughout the whole year but especially during Hispanic Heritage Month. All of our grandparents migrated to the United States with the hopes of creating better opportunities for their children and for future generations. My grandparents actually moved to Venezuela from Spain and lived there for many years working and saving money to come to America. They struggled with very little money and two children but managed to persevere due to the promise … [Read more...]
