It’s Halloween night and you’re just settling in for a scary movie marathon when...“Trick-or-treat!” Every Halloween, Netflix pause rates spike as viewers around the country get up to give out candy. But this year, you can stay inside while Netflix handles Halloween—for you and your ghoulish guests. The Netflix Halloween Doorbell welcomes trick-or-treaters with spooky sounds and music from your favorite Netflix shows and points them to candy, so you can treat yourself to a night of non-stop spooky streaming. How it works: The Netflix Halloween Doorbell is hung right over your existing doorbell, temporarily hiding it from trick-or-treaters. As trick-or-treaters approach the house, a proximity sensor in the doorbell triggers the theme song from your chosen Netflix show. Pressing the doorbell initiates a scream from that show’s characters and reveals a customizable message to your costumed guests on an LCD display screen. Stream & … [Read more...]
Disney Films Are Coming To Netflix! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
I cannot even begin to tell you guys how glad I am that we have all survived back to school and that our family routines are back in full swing. I'm thoroughly enjoying the change of seasons here in New York City and I've even started digging my boots and leggings out of the closet. To make everything even better, Disney is now on Netflix. Yes, you read that correctly, all of our favorite Disney films have arrived on Netflix! Disney films are just perfect for snuggling on the couch during family movie night and we have already planned our first gathering to watch Disney's Zootopia. We are so excited about spending some time with Judy Hopps and making some of our favorite movie time snacks like ice cream sandwiches. I can't wait to also introduce my boys to HOLES since it has been one of my favorite Disney films for years and I have also greatly enjoyed teaching the book to my students over the years. If you … [Read more...]
What’s The Craziest Place You’ve Watched Netflix? #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
In the bathroom? Under the covers? Where have you done it? We know there are only so many times you can hear the Dinotrux theme song before you start sneaking off to binge the new season of Orange is the New Black in the bathtub or "do work in the garage" while you secretly watch Voltron: Legendary Defender. Don't be ashamed, moms and dads, you're definitely not alone. In our house, it's basically get your Netflix time in whenever you can. Since we all love watching our favorite shows and we have three televisions in the home, you would think that there would be plenty of opportunities for all of us to watch Netflix. Unfortunately, my two sons pretty much monopolize two of our TVs and my husband likes to come in from work and take over the living room. As a result, I often have to sneak my viewing time in every chance I get. So, since it is time for confessions, I guess I should divulge what some of the craziest places … [Read more...]
Tips For Tackling Parenting Conversations With Your Kids! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
This week, my son is turning 13 and there are many important conversations that his father and I have begun to initiate with him since he is getting older. These days, it is not easy to unglue his phone from his hand or to get his attention for more than five minutes to even sit down and talk. I'm not going to say that addressing those tough topics with him has been easy either, after all, he is always going to be my baby. As far as my ten year-old is concerned, the conversations that we have are still a little less complicated than the ones we have been having with his older brother. We usually spend most of our time talking about why he should be getting along better with his sibling or what he has to do to earn more privileges. Thankfully, with Netflix, I can use my sons' favorite shows to open the door for these tricky, sometimes awkward conversations. I'm sure those of you with teens, tweens, and preteens … [Read more...]
Fortune Teller Craft Activity! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad
Although my family and I definitely agree on the fact that we all love Netflix, we sometimes cannot agree on what we should watch next as a family. We love each other dearly but we have huge differences when it comes to our taste in movies and shows. Our weekly debates can go from pleasant disagreements to heated debates so we have been looking to find ways to compromise so we can all enjoy what we like to watch. Since they know getting a collective answer can be easier said than done, Netflix has created an iconic fortune teller to help your family decide what to watch next. Even better, create your own! Fortune Teller Craft Activity How to play: Print out the Fortune Teller and cut (with help!) along the dotted line. Label the outermost triangles 1-8 and add in different genres for each. Then on the inner triangles, fill in your favorite show or movie currently streaming on Netflix that corresponds to each genre. Fold … [Read more...]
Star Wars: The Force Awakens Hand Puppets #FandangoFamily @Fandango #Giveaway #Ad
Although I have always been a movie buff, it takes a special film to get me really excited and make me want to go see it on its opening weekend. Star Wars: The Force Awakens has me literally on the edge of my seat in anticipation. So much so, that I have already purchased tickets in advance for my entire family the weekend that it debuts in theaters in December. Let me tell you, that is the first time that I have bought movie tickets that far in advance! This movie is special for me because of the nostalgia involved in watching the original Star Wars movies when I was a kid with my siblings. I have nothing but great memories of the three of us being glued to the big screen watching some of our favorite characters like Han Solo, Princess Leah, Yoda and Chewbacca on their intergalactic adventures. In this continuation of the epic space opera saga, a downed stormtrooper goes on a journey reconnecting him with … [Read more...]
Give Your Kids A Glimpse Into Your Childhood! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Partner
One of my favorite things to do is listen to music and watch shows with my sons that I used to enjoy when I was a kid. There is just something magical about bridging the gap between your own childhood and your children's childhoods by connecting through these "blasts from the past." It's a great way to let them know that you weren't always an adult and you weren't always their parent. Also, it allows you to create memories with them that will last a lifetime. My siblings and I used to lay on a blanket on the floor and watch Inspector Gadget while munching on our favorite snacks. It was so much fun to say, "Go, Go, Gadget, Go!" These special moments allowed us to bond with one another and I love now having the opportunity to watch Inspector Gadget with my boys on Netflix. They enjoy all of his antics and adventures as much as I did when I was a little girl. You guys can create these precious memories with your children as well. Netflix has an entire list of of … [Read more...]
Honor Your Favorite Hero This Father’s Day! #FandangoFamily @Fandango #Giveaway #Ad
This past week, I spoke to my boys about what we are going to do to for my husband this Father's Day. They always get excited when we plan surprises for their dad because they are both very close to him. Also, they realize how much he sacrifices every single day to make sure they enjoy the very best that life has to offer. Immediately, they told me that they definitely wanted to make cards for him and we brainstormed ideas for themes that we could follow in order to decorate these cards. My nine year-old son said that many superheroes save the world and never quit just like the Avengers. He then went on to say, "Daddy is my superhero because he never quits on me no matter what and he always saves the day when something is wrong." I was so deeply touched by his words that I decided right then that we would make Father's Day cards using the new film, Avengers: Age of Ultron as inspiration for these cards. Since this is the ultimate superhero movie, it is perfect … [Read more...]
