Celebrate The Everyday Heroes In Your Life! #MiHeroeFavorito #Giveaway #Ad

*This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and Disney Studios. However, all opinions expressed are my own.       As the mother of two sons, I often hear them commenting on who their latest superheroes are because of all the shows and cartoons that they watch.  It's such a pleasure witnessing them talking about the characteristics that make these heroes so admirable in their eyes.     Although I encourage this type of pretend play and discussion, it is important to me that our boys learn who the true heroes in our society are.  Especially living in a city like New York where First Responders saved so many lives on September 11th, I want my sons to value those who are truly the heroes in our lives.     Being an educator, I can tell you that most of the heroes who perform heroic deeds on a daily basis in your community probably go unnoticed and are under appreciated. The teachers who educate our children, firefighters, police officers, nurses, and … [Read more...]

Celebrate Family Milestones With @Netflix #StreamTeam #Partner

Fall is in full swing in our household.  We had a wonderful time planning for and celebrating Halloween last month and we are now preparing for the other major holidays that are quickly approaching like Thanksgiving and Christmas.  As always, one of the things that we really enjoy doing as a family is getting together for family movie night.  Since our son just started his basketball season on the Junior Varsity team, we have decided to celebrate this milestone by watching films as a family after every one of his games.     Having our boys involved in playing competitive sports is very important to my husband and I because they learn about working together and about good sportsmanship towards their teammates.  Since these post-game movie nights are to highlight my son's athletic accomplishments, we have to let him choose movies that are for big kids since he will be twelve next June and he is not a little guy anymore.  Thankfully, Netflix has all of the titles that he loves to … [Read more...]

Make Your Guests Feel Welcome During The Holidays! #TuiteaDesdeElTrono @CharminLatino #Ad

*This is part of a sponsored campaign with Charmin and Latina Mom Bloggers. However, all opinions expressed are my own.      I can't believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner!  Not only is it one of my favorite holidays, but it is also when I get to enjoy having my family around me since I normally host dinner at our home.  It has always been a special time because every single one of my family members prepares a traditional dish for our meal.  This helps me from having to cook everything on my own and it allows all of our children to sample a variety of traditional Latino dishes.     Normally, our guests only stay for the day in order for all of us to be able to eat together.  However, sometimes when my husband's family comes from out of state, it is necessary to open up our home to them for the night.  During these moments, it is especially important to me to make sure that they feel welcome for the duration of their stay.  After all, it's hard enough being away from … [Read more...]

Dreams Can Come True! Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition #Giveaway #SleepingBeautyPromo #Ad

*This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and Disney Studios. However, all opinions expressed are my own.     Ever since my boys were little, I have encouraged them to always dream big and reach for the stars.  During my childhood, I was very lucky that I had my mother and grandmother to remind me to set goals and to work hard to accomplish those goals.  As a mother, I have always wanted to provide my sons with this same kind of inspiration that I received and motivate them to never be afraid to keep their eyes on the prize.     Currently, my sons are very adamant about what their future dreams are.  My eleven-year old wants to be a professional basketball player and he keeps reminding me that he is going to take good care of me when he grows up.  On the other hand, my eight-year old has an angelic voice and has decided that he is going to be a professional singer and a superhero.     As you can see from his vision board, he is pretty set on becoming … [Read more...]

Celebrate With @ChefMerito This Hispanic Heritage Month! #ChefMerito #Giveaway #Ad

Cooking is the way to many people's hearts and this is especially true in Hispanic culture.  Huddling up around the kitchen for family holidays is a common sight in Latino families.  In our family, we like to all contribute a dish when we get together.  I've always loved this because it has allowed me to focus on spending time with my loved ones instead of slaving in the kitchen the whole time.  Plus, since everyone in our family has a signature dish that they are really good at preparing, we all have the opportunity to sample a little bit of everything.     As we approach Hispanic Heritage Month, it's important to celebrate the Hispanic foods and products that are staples in our homes and that have accompanied these family traditions for years.  Chef Merito is a family-owned business that feature a full line of special seasonings, spices and herbs. The products combine only the freshest and highest quality spices and are dedicated to enhance authentic Latin American, Mexican, and … [Read more...]

Create Family Memories With Netflix! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Partner

I can't believe that it is October already!  The month of September was a complete blur with back to school and all the new morning and bedtime routines.  Thankfully, our boys seem to be happy with their new teachers and classes and I am in full swing when it comes to preparing my students for a successful school year.  It's amazing how quickly we all made the transition from relaxing and lazy summer days and nights back to business.     Now that we are all so busy during the week, it has become increasingly important to get together and spend some family time on the weekends.  Since my husband is no longer working on Saturdays, it is the first time in a long time that we can all be with one another during this time.  I'm confident that these memories that we make will be looked upon fondly by all of us for years to come.  Our boys are growing up so quickly that, before you know it, they will have their own families so now is the time to enjoy every moment. Netflix Titles for … [Read more...]

Fall Pumpkin Picking Tips

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of taking the family to visit Prospect Hill Orchards in the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York State.  You can pick your own apples, pears and pumpkins there and it is very family-friendly.     We've never been pumpkin picking before so we were very excited to see all of the different pumpkin varieties and to decide on just the right ones for our Fall and Halloween decor. The truth is that I knew very little about picking just the right pumpkins before we set out on our adventure.  I did a little research to find out how to pick a pumpkin prior to heading out.     Many of you will probably be picking or purchasing your own pumpkins now that we are heading into the month of October and the season for Halloween.  I figured you could probably use some pumpkin picking tips too. Here is what I learned about picking the right pumpkin: It is much better to pick your own pumpkin at a pumpkin patch than purchasing one at the store. … [Read more...]

Make The World A Softer Place! #LetsSnuggle #Giveaway @Snuggle_Bear #Ad

*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Snuggle. As a member of the Snuggle Bear Den, I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.     Being a parent in modern times can be very challenging.  Aside from the fact that kids these days have access to almost unlimited amounts of technology and information, they are just a lot more savvy than we were when we were little.  My husband and I are trying to make sure that both of our boys enjoy their childhood for as long as possible.  After all, I remind my kids every day that being an adult is certainly not all it's cracked up to be.     Aside from making sure that they maintain their innocence for a while,  we also want to make sure that they contribute to making the world a softer place to live in for themselves and for those around them.  In order to do that, we have very specific expectations of them for how they treat each other as well as how they treat others. Here are some of the ways that we are making the … [Read more...]

Celebrating 30 Years Of Marriage With My In-Laws!

This weekend, I had the pleasure of celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary with my In-Laws.  They celebrated this special milestone with their three children and three out of their four grandchildren.     It was heartwarming to see how much in love they still are with one another after being together for so many years.  I could tell by their beaming smiles how happy they were to be surrounded by their kids and grandkids and it really made me reflect on what they both have meant to me since Hubby and I have been together.     You see, although my Mother In Law Donna is technically my husband's stepmother, she has always treated me like a daughter and always made me feel like part of the family.  Additionally, my husband has never considered her anything less than his mother.     In light of the fact that my husband's biological mother does not speak to me or to my children, the fact that Donna has stepped into both the roles of Mother in Law to me and grandmother to our boys … [Read more...]

Give More To The Ones You Love! #MasDeLoTuyo @Sears #MoreToYou #Ad

*This sponsored post was written by me in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and Sears. All opinions are 100% mine.     Lately, my husband and I have been burning the candle at both ends.  I've been working full-time as a teacher and blogger and Hubby has been working to launch a small business.  Sometimes we get so busy that we don't even know whether we are coming or going but we always try to maintain our focus.  You see, we are determined to provide our boys with the kind of life and opportunities that we were not afforded when we were growing up.  In order to accomplish this, we know that it's going to take a lot of hard work and dedication on both of our parts.     Growing up, things were not easy for my husband and I financially.  He was raised by a disabled single mother who was on a fixed income and had to stretch her meager budget to make ends meet.  I, on the other hand, had both of my parents but my father was the only one who worked a blue-collar job and his … [Read more...]
