Fourth Of July No Bake Cookie Dough Balls

This afternoon, my Aunt called me to ask what time she should be here Saturday for our annual Fourth of July barbecue.  I've been getting ready for this weekend this whole week trying to plan and prepare easy foods that I know the whole family will love.    The key is making sure that making these foods doesn't take up a lot of my time because we just started summer vacation here in New York City and the last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time in the hot kitchen.    The kids usually spend the entire day running around with the water guns and throwing water balloons at each other so they often don't even stop to grab a bite to eat.  However, as soon as they see dessert come out, they flock to it like bees to honey.    I've come up with some fun dessert ideas to celebrate Independence Day this year and one of them is for Fourth of July No Bake Cookie Dough Balls.  I'm pretty sure all the kids are going to love them because they are easy to carry around and eat … [Read more...]

Banana Split Cupcake Recipe

As my boys are getting older, I have noticed that they prefer cupcakes over other desserts.  I think part of it is that cupcakes are so convenient to transport and eat.  Since we are constantly on-the-go, they often have to eat snacks while we are on the road.  Banana Split cupcakes are some of their favorites because they contain fresh strawberries and my sons love them.     In the past, I have served cupcakes at family dinner parties and events at my kids' school.  This particular recipe is reserved for special events because these cupcakes are so decadent and sophisticated.  Every single one of these is made from scratch and you can taste it as soon as you take the first bite.Chocolate Cake1/4 Cup of unsalted butter ( room temp ) 1 Cup of sugar 1 Cup of chocolate chips 2 Large eggs ( room temperature ) 2 Large egg yolks ( room temperature ) 1/2 Cup of vegetable oil 2 Teaspoon of vanilla extract 1/3 Cup of sour cream 1 Cup of flour 1/2 Teaspoon of  tea … [Read more...]

Creamy Fruit Topped Pound Cake Recipe #SLSweetTreats @SaraLeeDesserts #Ad

*I'm required to disclose a relationship between our site and Sara Lee. This could include Sara Lee providing us w/content, product, access or other forms of payment.    When I think back to my childhood and the desserts that I would enjoy with my parents and my siblings, one of the treats that always comes to mind is Sara Lee All Butter Pound Cake.  I remember my father telling us that when our grandmother first came from Spain to the United States, this pound cake was one of the first things that she fell in love with from this new country.  She loved enjoying a hot cup of coffee with a delicious slice of what she referred to as "Heaven."     As we became teenagers, we enjoyed pairing our pound cake with a variety of toppings depending on what we were craving at that particular moment.  I can recall eating my Sara Lee All Butter Pound Cake topped with ice cream, cookie crumbs, whipped cream, and even slathered in peanut butter and jelly.  It seemed as if the possibilities were … [Read more...]

Dessert Meets My Perfect Companion! #CompañeroPerfecto @Coffee_Mate #Giveaway #Ad

*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Coffee Mate. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating.  All opinions are my own.      When I was growing up in my Grandmother's house as a young girl, having visitors during the middle of the day was always a big production.  From the moment that the doorbell rang, we would all hurry to welcome our guests and to help Tata (Grandma) prepare the coffee and pull out all of the pastries, cookies and cakes that we kept in the house for just these visits.     I was always in awe as to how much coffee and dessert could be arranged in such a short time.  One of my fondest memories is the smell of coffee permeating the house and mixing with the perfumes of our female visitors.  Oh, how I wanted to grow up and be beautiful and gracious like these wonderful women whom I was surrounded by.    Now that I have my own family, it is important to me to maintain those wonderful … [Read more...]
