Celebrate Family This Holiday Season! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad

The beginning of the holiday season has been a whirlwind in our household.  The past couple of weeks have included parent-teacher conferences at my school and the hustle and bustle of planning for Thanksgiving.  As if all that wasn't enough, both of my sons came down with strep throat and my younger one even got an ear infection to boot.  Basically, I've been running around like a chicken without a head and we have tried to keep the joy in everything we are doing despite some of these bumps in the road.     I've really enjoyed being able to spend quality time with my family and those who truly matter in my life. We always get together to celebrate the holidays and, for the past two years, it has become a tradition to spend Thanksgiving at my sister's house.  Not only do we always have a great time, but I love not having to cook and just showing up to eat every year.  My sister is an amazing cook and she always prepares a feast for all … [Read more...]

Watch Hallmark Channel’s “Christmas in Homestead” Thanksgiving Day! #CountdowntoChristmas #Ad

The holidays are my favorite time of the year because they allow me to focus on the people who really matter in my life.  As a Working Mom, I spend a lot of time juggling my many responsibilities including being a mom, a full-time educator, a wife, a professional blogger, and much more.       I like to prioritize my time during this season to redirect my attention to where it truly belongs, which is on my husband and my sons.  They are the center of my world and I cherish every opportunity to spend quality time with them.     Hallmark Channel is my family's prime destination for all things holiday related! This season, we look forward to original movie releases such as A Wish For Christmas, Christmas Cookies, My Christmas Dream and much more! This Thanksgiving Day we will be tuning in to watch "Christmas in Homestead" at 8pm/7c!     The movie stars Taylor Cole and Michael Rady.  One of the most famous actresses in … [Read more...]

FX’s Better Things is Literally My Life! #BetterThings #Giveaway @FXNetworks #Ad

I'm pretty sure that I don't have to tell you all that being a mom is not an easy job.  Unfortunately, kids don't come with instructions so there is a lot of winging it that is involved in raising kids.  Most of us do the very best that we can and we often second-guess ourselves and wonder if we are even doing a good job after all.  A few years ago, I even mixed up the dates for the first day of school since I was so swamped with work and I felt guilty for months afterwards.     That is why I can totally relate to FX’s new comedy series from Louis CK and Pamela Adlon, Better Things!  It is all about those difficult moments that come with motherhood including those sleepless nights and those feelings like everything is always on your shoulders at all times.  It's so good to know that I'm not the only one who gets overwhelmed sometimes or that there really is no such thing as a perfect mother.     Sam Fox reminds me of … [Read more...]

Watch #SummerintheCity this Saturday, August 13th at 9pm/8c on @HallmarkChannel! #Ad

Being off during the summer affords me the opportunity to enjoy some of my favorite programming.  This vacation, I am enjoying watching The Hallmark Channel and their all new "Summer Nights" programming happening all summer long!       Their latest movie, "Summer in the City", premieres Saturday, August 13th at 9:00 PM / 8:00c. Throughout July and August, the Hallmark Channel will be releasing the original movies, Summer Villa, For Love and Honor, My Summer Prince, Managing Manhattan as well as the Kitten Summer Games, and the new original TV series, Chesapeake Shores.     As a New Yorker, I can totally relate to the main character of "Summer in the City," a small town woman with Midwestern charm.  It was a big culture shock for me to move to the Big Apple from a small town in Spain when I was eight years old.  There were so many new cultures, people, and experiences to become accustomed to.  She is given a … [Read more...]

Learn New And Interesting Facts With Netflix! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad

As you all know, I am a veteran educator.  This is not always good news for my kids because I always make sure that they keep learning even when they are off during summer vacation.  Since I know they get overwhelmed with schoolwork during the year, I try to make their summer learning as fun as possible.  That is exactly where Netflix comes in!       Netflix helps our family to learn new and interesting facts while watching our favorite shows.  It's amazing the fun information that my sons have learned from watching their favorite programs on Netflix.  From the history of Cleopatra to learning what baking powder vs. baking soda can do to cupcakes, there is virtually no limit to all of the useful things that kids can learn while watching television at the same time.     My sons are ages ten and thirteen so they both have shows that they like to watch on Netflix.  The older one really enjoys Fuller House because he … [Read more...]

What’s The Craziest Place You’ve Watched Netflix? #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad

In the bathroom? Under the covers? Where have you done it?     We know there are only so many times you can hear the Dinotrux theme song before you start sneaking off to binge the new season of Orange is the New Black in the bathtub or "do work in the garage" while you secretly watch Voltron: Legendary Defender. Don't be ashamed, moms and dads, you're definitely not alone.     In our house, it's basically get your Netflix time in whenever you can.  Since we all love watching our favorite shows and we have three televisions in the home, you would think that there would be plenty of opportunities for all of us to watch Netflix.  Unfortunately, my two sons pretty much monopolize two of our TVs and my husband likes to come in from work and take over the living room.  As a result, I often have to sneak my viewing time in every chance I get.     So, since it is time for confessions, I guess I should divulge what some of the craziest places … [Read more...]

Annedroids Inspires Kids Using STEM Curriculum! @KidzVuz #Ad

I have been an educator for over fifteen years and I can't even begin to tell you how important exposing kids to a STEM curriculum centered around science, technology, engineering, and math is to their academic development.  This is why the teacher in me loves the new Emmy nominated Annedroids on Amazon.  Season three airs June 24th on Amazon Prime Video and features characters that encompass what a female role model should be.  It is through the trial and error of using science and technology that the main character builds androids with some help from her friends.     As I previewed Season 3, I immediately fell in love with the show's protagonist, Anne.  She is a genius who uses her skills as a tween scientist to invent and bring to life these androids while her besties Nick and Shania lend a helping hand.  It is easy to see how close they are to one another when they unite with their android friends to make sure that the junkyard … [Read more...]

Tips For Tackling Parenting Conversations With Your Kids! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad

This week, my son is turning 13 and there are many important conversations that his father and I have begun to initiate with him since he is getting older.  These days, it is not easy to unglue his phone from his hand or to get his attention for more than five minutes to even sit down and talk.  I'm not going to say that addressing those tough topics with him has been easy either, after all, he is always going to be my baby.       As far as my ten year-old is concerned, the conversations that we have are still a little less complicated than the ones we have been having with his older brother.  We usually spend most of our time talking about why he should be getting along better with his sibling or what he has to do to earn more privileges.  Thankfully, with Netflix, I can use my sons'  favorite shows to open the door for these tricky, sometimes awkward conversations.  I'm sure those of you with teens, tweens, and preteens … [Read more...]

Fortune Teller Craft Activity! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad

Although my family and I definitely agree on the fact that we all love Netflix, we sometimes cannot agree on what we should watch next as a family.  We love each other dearly but we have huge differences when it comes to our taste in movies and shows.  Our weekly debates can go from pleasant disagreements to heated debates so we have been looking to find ways to compromise so we can all enjoy what we like to watch.     Since they know getting a collective answer can be easier said than done, Netflix has created an iconic fortune teller to help your family decide what to watch next. Even better, create your own! Fortune Teller Craft Activity How to play: Print out the Fortune Teller and cut (with help!) along the dotted line. Label the outermost triangles 1-8 and add in different genres for each. Then on the inner triangles, fill in your favorite show or movie currently streaming on Netflix that corresponds to each genre. Fold … [Read more...]

Unleash your LEGO-tivity With Netflix! #StreamTeam @Netflix #Ad

I've always encouraged my sons to use their imaginations and creativity when it comes to any project that they tackle or complete.  That's probably why I have always loved when they play with building blocks or LEGO.  From the moment that they hold their first block and envision what they are going to create, they embark on a journey of self-expression.     The best part is that my husband and I enjoy building with them and we often spend time as a family using our imaginations together.  It's the perfect opportunity to spend quality time together and to bounce ideas off one another.  We love seeing the smiles on our boys' faces when they are driven by inspiration and determined to bring their ideas to life.     As a Netflix Ambassador, I was so excited when we found out that our love of building is shared by many others who will be watching two new shows on Netflix :  LEGO Bionicle and LEGO Friends.   In Lego … [Read more...]
