Celebrate World Sleep Day March 14th! @PhilipsHealth #WorldSleepDay #Ad

*This is a sponsored post with Philips Health, however, as always my posts are based on my opinions and experiences.     It's no secret that I am spread very thin when it comes to my career, my blog and my family obligations.  There just never seems to be enough time in the day to get everything done.  As a result, I don't always get as much sleep as I should and, some days, it affects me more than others.  I'm starting to realize that my body needs its sleep and I would love to know how I can get more rest in my life.     Philips Healthcare wants to help raise awareness about how important sleep is and how sleep, or lack thereof, plays a part in everything that we do. On March 14th, World Sleep Day will celebrate sleep and highlight the important issues that are related to sleep.  Philips is proud to be a part of helping to improve the lives of patients that are suffering from sleep disorders by encouraging us to make positive changes in our lives that will improve our mental … [Read more...]

Help Your Baby Get A Good Night’s Sleep! #WalgreensLatino #MiBebe @Walgreens #Ad

*This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and Walgreens.  However, all opinions expressed are my own.     When I became a mother for the first time, I was really eager to learn everything that I possibly could about taking care of a baby.  As a result, I read as many books as I could and I researched everything from potty training to proper sterilization of baby bottles.     One of my favorite places to shop for baby items has always been Walgreens.  Their Well Beginnings line has just about anything you need for your baby including diapers, wipes, formula and more.  It is the perfect store for stocking up on all of the necessities that make your bebé and your familia more comfortable.     During my infinite quest for "Mommy knowledge" I found out that there were specific things that I could do to help my baby get a good night's sleep.  After all, a happy sleeping baby means a happy new mommy that could get some sleep too.  That is when I devised the … [Read more...]

Make That Financial Dream Into A Reality For Your Family! #HispanicDream @massmutual #Ad

*I wrote this post as part of my participation in a blog tour for Latina Mom Bloggers on behalf of MassMutual and received compensation to thank me for taking the time to participate. However, all opinions expressed are my own.     Ten years ago, we bought our first home and it was a huge accomplishment for us.  We felt like we finally had our hands around the American dream and that we were finally on our way to obtaining some financial stability.  Unfortunately, buying a house is a huge expense and every time you turn around, there is something new to be fixed or paid for.     Fast forward to today and we have continued to pay down our debt and work towards becoming debt-free but, I have to be honest, my husband and I worry about how quickly we will be able to do that because of the current state of the economy.  It has become harder than ever to save money and to be able make lucrative investments.     Most Latinos have dreams about securing their financial futures but they … [Read more...]

I Lend My Voice To The Voiceless… #Bloggers4Venezuela #PrayForVenezuela #SOSVenezuela

There comes a time in every Blogger's career where he or she has to decide whether to mesh politics into their posts.  Normally I don't discuss politics here but, my conscience is beseeching me to talk about what is happening in Venezuela with my readers.  Last weekend, I watched a YouTube video describing and depicting how college students in Venezuela had taken to the streets to protest peacefully against a government that was denying citizens its civil rights.     Now, I don't plan on spending a lot of time talking about the government because, frankly, they just don't deserve that kind of attention.  What I would like to focus upon is that we live in modern times where we would expect people to be able to speak freely and to be guaranteed basic human rights.     That is the real issue here, human beings are being denied the right to be free and to exercise free will.  As Bloggers, we cover topics regularly on a variety of subjects and our readers respect  what we say.  Since … [Read more...]

Be Careful Getting Out Of Your Car!

Many of you who follow me on social media probably already know that my car was struck last week.  While this is not the first time that we have had an accident, the details of this particular one are quite unusual and you will probably be surprised to learn a few things, especially if you are a driver.     It all began last Wednesday, which was the day after the East Coast was slammed with some serious snowfalls.  New York City was no exception and we received over a foot of snow in some areas.  True to his passion as an athlete, my husband expressed that he wanted to take the kids snow tubing since they were lucky enough to be enjoying a snow day, unlike their public school counterparts.     A few hours after they left, my husband called me and I could immediately tell by the sound of his voice that something was seriously wrong.  He proceeded to tell me that he was exiting our parked vehicle on the driver's side when another car struck our car door and almost took Hubby's … [Read more...]

Teach Your Kids How To Hit The Slopes Safely! @siasnowsports #SnowLink #Ad

*This is a compensated campaign on behalf of SnowSports Industries America (SIA).  All opinions are 100% mine.     This past weekend, my son's basketball team had a home game on Sunday.  When he returned, he shared with me that one of his teammates did not attend the game because he went skiing.     We have been considering taking our boys skiing for a long time and it really got me thinking about some of the safety concerns that I have about taking our kids to ski for the first time. After all, like any sport or activity, children need to be taught safety when it comes to heading out on the slopes.     I think most parents' number one concern when kids head out skiing or snowboarding is on-hill safety.  Fortunately, Snowlink.com has worked with the National Ski Patrol to help parents’ start a dialogue with kids and review the do’s and don’ts when hitting the slopes with the Safety IQ Test.     As a parent, it puts me more at ease to know that the issue of teaching kids ski … [Read more...]

The Return Of Working Mom Guilt

This afternoon, I received an email from my 7 year-old's teacher stating that she had sent a memo home last Friday alerting me to the fact that he was talking excessively in class.  She went on to say that he had failed to copy down the homework assignment due to his socializing.  No sooner had I read the message that I began to feel the all too familiar pangs of Working Mom guilt.     You see, I asked him this weekend if he had finished his homework and he assured me that he had.  The responsible mommy thing to do would have been to check his folder and make sure that he had indeed finished all of his work.  Instead, I chose to give in to my exhaustion and take his word for it.  Now I feel terrible.  God knows what the teacher must be thinking of me.  In her mind, I probably don't care about my son's academic progress.  It's even more embarrassing because I am a teacher myself.     The truth is that I check every homework normally and I always take care of everything and I think … [Read more...]

Connect With Your Favorite Novela Characters Anytime! #MyNovela @Univision #Giveaway #Ad

This post was created in partnership with the Stiletto Blogger Network and Univision. However, all opinions expressed herein are my own.       Ever since I was a little girl, I can remember how beloved novelas/soap operas were in our home.  My Aunt, who was a teacher, would use the VHS to record her favorite stories during the day when she was at work and unable to watch them.  In the evening, my sister and I would sit with her captivated by the intriguing characters and their dramatic lives.  This is exactly what initially drew me to watching the telenovela Lo Que La Vida Me Robo on Univision, its colorful protagonists and their complicated drama.     My favorite character, and the one whom I can relate to the most, is Montserrat Mendoza.  She is the female protagonist who is a a young noble woman, willing to make any sacrifice for her family.  Unfortunately, she carries the financial future of her entire family on her shoulders and has to marry into money in order to … [Read more...]

Arm Yourself Against ID Theft With A Fellowes Shredder! #IDSafetySeason @FellowesInc #Ad

*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Fellowes Inc. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating.  All opinions are my own.       Most of you who are regular readers of this blog know that I was recently the victim of identity theft.  Fortunately, I found out about it because many people continue to be victimized for years without ever knowing that it was even taking place.  Having the opportunity to review a state-of-the-art P-12C Fellowes paper shredder couldn't have come at a more opportune time for me with this unfortunate recent turn of events...     We receive a lot of mail and junk mail here at our home and I always spend hours ripping it all up meticulously so that predators will not be able to access our personal information.  These criminals have been known to sift through people's garbage just to read through discarded documents and mail in order to steal their identities.  Due to this recent experience of … [Read more...]

What Should You Do If You Are The Victim Of Identity Theft?

The afternoon of New Year's Eve, I received a message from a bill collector on my cell phone.  I immediately called them back because I have good credit and I take my financial obligations seriously.  They went on to tell me that a cable television account that I opened in California was in collections because I had not paid the bill.  Now, there was only one problem, I've never been to California so I knew that my identity had been compromised.     After a long discussion with this collector, I found out that a woman used my maiden name and my social security number to open a cable account at least three times since 2010 in the state of California and eventually defaulted on the account.  This was shocking because I've never shared my personal information with anyone without being cautious and I couldn't believe that this had been going on for so long without my knowledge.  I really felt violated that someone had stolen my identity this way.     Since this has never happened to … [Read more...]
