*This is part of a product review campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Hasbro; complimentary products were provided. However, all opinions expressed are my own. Last weekend, my husband and I took our sons and nephew to see the new Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie. It was such a pleasure to watch how excited they all were to see one of their favorite superheroes live on the big screen. During the movie, they acted out some of the parts and I knew that they would continue having fun and pretending to be part of the film even after we went home. What my boys didn't know is that they would have some amazing toys to encourage their fun and creative play. You see, Hasbro is celebrating the world of Captain America with a new toy line featuring the much loved Super Soldier. To build to my boys' excitement over seeing the movie, I planned for them to have fun with the action figures that were inspired by this sequel. I cannot even begin to … [Read more...]
Spend Family Time Making A Wind Wheel! #HadaPirata #Ad
*This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and Disney Studios. However, all opinions expressed are my own. Spending time with my sons is on the top of my list of priorities. As a Working Mom, I spend a lot of time away from them due to my career and I like to take advantage of every opportunity to bond with them or to engage in educational activities with them. We do a lot of fun things when we are together and making arts and crafts is just one of them. This evening, we are watching Disney’s Pirate Fairy on Blue-ray™ and Digital and watching a familia of hadas or family of fairies working together to bring their loved one, Zarina, back home after she has made the wrong decision and gotten mixed up in some bad company. Like we say in Spanish, "Dime con quien tú andas y te digo quien eres."* They encounter some pirates and use some pixie dust on their adventures which ultimately help to bring the fairies together again. We are so … [Read more...]

Get Your Kids Excited About Science With @Netflix #NetflixKids #StreamTeam #Ad
*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Netflix. As a member of the Netflix Stream Team, I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating. I never fully appreciated how much work parents put into helping their kids with homework and projects until I, myself became a mother. Prior to that, as an educator, I would dole out assignments and never even consider how much work parents would have to put into making sure that their children completed each task. Now that I am a mother of school-aged children, I have spent my share of evenings doing homework that was supposed to be for my boys but that I ended up feeling like it was homework for me. This was especially true when I had to help my son build an Iroquois Longhouse situated in fall foliage. As you can see from the photos below, it was a lot of work for my son and for me! When it comes to helping them with science projects, I enjoy the hands-on aspect of it but I'm not that strong in that subject … [Read more...]

Recently, my sons, nephews and I had the pleasure of attending the screening of Mr. Peabody & Sherman in New York City. We were all very excited to see the film version of this timeless classic. All of us had already become enamored with the characters that we were introduced to in the previews that we had seen. The film is centered around Mr. Peabody, who is an intelligent dog who speaks and lives in the human world, and his son Sherman who is a real boy. Together they use their time machine, called the WABAC, to have some amazing adventures. When Sherman takes the WABAC for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they rip a hole in the universe and end up altering some of the most famous events in world history. Luckily, Mr. Peabody comes to the rescue and, in the process … [Read more...]

*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Netflix. As a member of the Netflix Stream Team, I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating. This winter, my family and I have been enjoying watching the Olympic Games at Sochi. It has been very exciting to see my two boys observing the competition and supporting their favorite athletes. These moments have opened the door to initiate important conversations with them about such topics as inspiration, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Since both of our sons play basketball and other sports competitively, we are aware of the positive lessons that children learn through participating in organized sports. Additionally, we appreciate the positive impact that playing sports has on their self-esteem and confidence. Here are some of the conversation starters that my husband and I used to elicit family discussions with our boys while watching the olympic action: What are some of the character traits that … [Read more...]

Take @Netflix With You This Holiday Season! #NetflixKids #StreamTeam #Ad
*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Netflix. As a member of the Netflix Stream Team, I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating. Every Christmas and New Year's, my husband and I try to split our time equally between both sides of the family. It's important that his family and mine get time to spend with us and our boys. As a result, we do end up spending some time in the car traveling back and forth. Additionally, since the grandparents are not that technologically advanced, we appreciate that we can take Netflix with us on our travels to keep the kids engaged and entertained. We love how accessible our boys' favorite Netflix movies are from our smartphones and their tablets which allows us to bring their TV shows and movies to any destination. We've put together some of our own beloved holiday titles that you can take to Grandma's this year including Charlie Brown, Thomas the Tank Engine and Clark Griswold from Christmas Vacation. Since … [Read more...]
