The beginning of the holiday season has been a whirlwind in our household. The past couple of weeks have included parent-teacher conferences at my school and the hustle and bustle of planning for Thanksgiving. As if all that wasn't enough, both of my sons came down with strep throat and my younger one even got an ear infection to boot. Basically, I've been running around like a chicken without a head and we have tried to keep the joy in everything we are doing despite some of these bumps in the road. I've really enjoyed being able to spend quality time with my family and those who truly matter in my life. We always get together to celebrate the holidays and, for the past two years, it has become a tradition to spend Thanksgiving at my sister's house. Not only do we always have a great time, but I love not having to cook and just showing up to eat every year. My sister is an amazing cook and she always prepares a feast for all … [Read more...]

Help Your Teenager Deal With Peer Pressure
Teenagers seem to be faced with so much more today, then I ever faced as a kid. It’s a tough world out there. Unfortunately, there are teenagers out there who won’t do the right thing. Since they refuse to do the right thing, they will drag other teens down with them. Here is how to help your teenager deal with peer pressure. Communicate with your teenager Your life will always go a lot more smoothly whenever you communicate with your teenager. Not only do you want to communicate with them, you want to have an open-door policy for them. It’s much better to have your teen come talk to you than give into peer pressure. Trust your teen to make the right choice Every adult on this planet has made a bad choice and a lot of those choices were made as teenagers. AS a parent, you have vowed to never let your teenager make the same mistakes you did. GREAT! Now that you have talked to your teen, trust them to make the right choice. If they will be in a situation where you … [Read more...]
Best Way To Volunteer This Holiday Season
Volunteering around the holiday season is exciting. You get to help people in need and feel good about what you’re doing. Getting out there and volunteering is always better than sitting back and doing nothing. If you’re looking at volunteering this holiday season, these are the best ways (in my humble opinion). 1. Local soup kitchen When you don’t know where to spend your time volunteering, your local soup kitchen is always a good start. Soup kitchens always need help and volunteers. Spend some time here this holiday season and watch your perspective change. If you would rather not work in the soup kitchen, it takes a lot to make a homeless shelter run. There are many different volunteering options. Make sure you choose something that you will love doing, this will give you the opportunity to keep coming back for more. 2. Do what you can There isn’t someone out there measuring how much you give or volunteer this holiday season. The best way to volunteer is to do what you … [Read more...]

Be Thankful For A Lot More This Thanksgiving! #EnjoyTheGo @Charmin #Ad
Thanksgiving is only two days away and there are so many things to be thankful for this year. First and foremost, I am thankful for my family and their continued good health and happiness. My boys are a constant source of pride and love for me and they are my number one priority. There are, however, a few more humble things that I'm grateful for and one of them is the opportunity to get together with those whom I love to celebrate one another and to enjoy some really delicious food together. We are going to eat dinner at my sister's house this year and I am so excited that I don't have to cook. You see, I've always had the task of preparing and organizing the entire meal for most of our family holidays so it will be nice to just show up to eat for a change. My sister is a really good cook and my aunt will be helping her prepare all the food so we are all really looking forward to stuffing ourselves this Thursday. … [Read more...]
Salted Caramel Iced Coffee @Folgers #Folgers #Ad
There is nothing like enjoying a cup of your favorite coffee anytime of the day. The entire experience is mesmerizing and tantalizing from your taste buds to your sense of smell. Folgers Coffeehouse Blend is perfect for exploring alternative brewing methods because of its distinct taste that starts smooth and finishes bold. That is why I knew that it would be the perfect blend to use for my Salted Caramel Iced Coffee recipe. Folgers Coffeehouse Blend allows you to add anything to your coffee and still taste your coffee perfectly. When I was a little girl, my grandmother always loved to carry caramels in the pocket of her apron. She would secretly eat them throughout the day and would often give me one to eat whenever I was good or just to reward me with a treat. It's a beloved memory from my childhood so I knew that caramel would be the perfect ingredient for creating a decadent iced coffee recipe. … [Read more...]
Disney Frozen Party Ideas #QuickerPickerUpper #DisneyFrozen @Bounty #Ad
As a busy Working Mom, I don't have a lot of time to party plan and I especially don't have time for the messy cleanup during and after the party. Normally, I try to make cleaning up fun for everyone, including the kids, so they won't realize that they are actually helping to get rid of the mess because they are enjoying themselves too much. Now, you can make clean up quick and fun for the whole family with limited-edition NEW Bounty Prints Featuring Disney Frozen! Frozen is one of my most beloved Disney animated films and Bounty napkins and paper towels are a staple in our home because they are tough on messes and, in a house full of men, I need all the tough I can get. Simple Dinner Solutions For Working Moms! #BalanceYourPlate @Stouffers #Ad
*This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Stouffer's and WeAllGrow Latina. All opinions are 100% my own. Everyone wants to eat better, but sometimes we need a little inspiration and simple solutions to choose from to make it a reality more often. This is especially true for working moms like me who love preparing delicious meals for their families but just don't have the time to spend hours in the kitchen preparing elaborate recipes. Recently, I have learned about the Balance Your Plate program which is designed to educate everyone about ways to put together nutritious meals that incorporate both frozen and fresh foods. This is such a big help when it comes to finding that balance between our busy lives and making sure we are eating healthy. Research shows that Americans are only meeting MyPlate recommendations for vegetables, fruit, proteins, dairy and grains seven days out of 365. This is of great concern to me … [Read more...]

How Educated Are You About Your Health Care Plan? @MyUHC #Ad
Those of you who are long-time readers of this blog know that I am a nine year Leukemia Survivor. As a result, I have had to learn how to be my own best advocate when it comes to my health. After all, you have to be an educated patient and understand your health care plan in order to navigate the medical system wisely. Open enrollment is about the begin, and for some it already has, so now is the time to acquire all the knowledge you can about health care plans in order to make the most informed decision you can. Just this past month, UnitedHealthcare launched a new site that has several engagements educating people about their health care. Learning about and purchasing a health care plan can be extremely overwhelming for many of us, but UnitedHealthcare wants to help by allowing us to take advantage of our health care by becoming empowered and learning the ins and outs of it. You can do this by using their interactive learning … [Read more...]
