Today was my first day back to work after being on vacation all summer. As a teacher, this time of the year is an extremely busy time for me because not only am I getting my classroom ready for my new students, but I’m also getting my two boys ready for back to school. A lot of preparation goes into making sure that we are all ready and that we all have everything we need to start the new school year off right.
This July, I had the opportunity to travel to California and visit the Walmart eCommerce facility in Sunnyvale to learn about their new website experience. As an educated consumer and a mom, I was very excited to learn about how this new website was going to make shopping for my family easier for me.
The site was created for tablets first and built via responsive design so content, images and information are optimally displayed on any device viewing Walmart.com. This means that I can do my browsing and shopping right from my smartphone!
The new site is also personalized to each individual person based on their geographic location, local weather and events, search, browse, click and purchase history. That means that product recommendations will be relevant to me specifically and I can now easily see store savings, such as coupons and rollbacks from my local stores, weekly ads and store locations.
I love having such easy access to Walmart’s almost 8 million items right on my tablet or smartphone. In the near future, the site is migrating to the new global technology platform (Pangaea), it will be able to scale to tens of millions of products!
All of this translates into convenience and savings for this busy Working Mom. I don’t even have to leave the comfort of my own home in order to take advantage of Walmart’s awesome prices as well as their unparalleled product selection. What are you waiting for? Go grab your smartphone and get shopping!

I liked the old website better
To be honest, I don’t shop online all that much, but I am all for anything that makes my life easier,so I will hop over there and check it out.
Living out in the country, we rely on online shopping for many needs. Didn’t know Walmart had buffed up their online website, I’m looking forward to checking in out with my smartphone!
I don’t have a smartphone so will not be able to take advantage of this. It amazes me what companies are doing these days to make shopping easier for consumers.
I like the idea of savings and convenience. I do shop online but I have two Walmarts so close to me that I just go to the store.
This will be great for Cyber Monday, which is usually the only time I purchase from walmart online. Since I have one about 15 minutes from my house I like to get what I want now. lol
I haven’t tried it yet, but do hope they have the pricing better. So many times I have found the in-store price to actually be cheaper!
I have recently tried Walmart’s online shopping and loved it. I’ve had products shipped to me (they arrived quickly) and had in store pick-up. I had good experiences with both!

I do a lot of Christmas shopping online from walmart. It is so much easier.

I do alot of online shopping especially since finding out that my daughter is having twins and I love the new Walmart website and I was wondering why all of a sudden it looked much better on my phone! I especially love the Savings Catcher I am saving a fortune on this alone!

That is a great website. Walmart always has great sales.
It’s been a couple of months since I’ve used Walmart’s website. There were some quirks in the previous site, so I’m hoping this makes things easier for me!
Walmart is a great place to shop because of the prices. But it is even nicer when you can order off of your tablet from the comfort of your home. This will just make things so much more convenient.
I haven’t used Walmart since their Black Friday iPad fiasco last year (paid for one and they never got more back in stock, even though it was a guarantee!) It sounds like they may have it together now, so I may give them another try 🙂
I haven’t seen it. I actually like to go to the Walmart for a little relaxing walk. I almost never order from their website but I do check pricing there.
I don’t think I’ve ever done any online shopping through Walmart. Your post does make me want to check it out though and I certainly will. Might be easier sometimes. Thanks for sharing 😉

I will have to check out their new website. I don’t sop at Walmart very often, but my BF shops there religiously. I bet he will be excited about the ease of use of the new website 🙂
