Feather The Nest And Achieve The Goals You Always Wanted! @Feather_Nesters #Ad

*This is a sponsored post with Feather the Nest, however, as always my posts are based on my opinions and experiences.

I can still remember the excitement of leaving the realtors office where we closed on our house in 2004.  It was the first time that we truly understood what it meant to own a home of our very own and to live the American Dream.  Unfortunately, being a homeowner is wonderful but it is very expensive and purchasing your first home is a huge financial responsibility.

It would have been wonderful to be able to have some financial support from friends and family to help ease this financial responsibility.  Feather the Nest is a new company in New York and Miami that allows members to make profiles on their site to raise funds for their first real estate investments.  It’s a great way for recent college grads looking to move out on their own or purchase their first home to get a little help.

The way it works is that Feather the Nest requires new members to complete a profile, tell their story or explain their goal so that friends and family can contribute to it.  Loved ones can donate monetary gifts up to $10,000 for a down payment on a home in lieu of giving graduation presents or buying presents for life’s special events.  It’s very simple to join and to start raising the funds needed to achieve all of the goals that you want to accomplish in your life.

Feather the Nest is offering a sweepstakes that rewards $500 towards the winner’s fund. To sign up all you have to do is go to featherthenest.com and create a profile that describes your project and goal.  Then can use your savvy social media skills to ask friends and family to contribute to your project. Feather the Nest will share all the projects on their page and ask fans to vote for their favorite one to win.

In retrospect, we would have loved to have a little help when it came time to come up with the funds to buy our house.  I’m sure that our friends and family would have been more than happy to support us as we embarked on this new adventure by helping us feather the nest.  Start your own nest today and do not delay your goals and dreams any longer!

Let’s Discuss:  What goal or project would you use the money from your nest to fund?

wow I wish they had something like feather in the nest when I was younger I had no help which is how when I got married we ended up living with friends basically homeless and it’s been a year since we have had our apartment. I hope to be at a point where I can be in a position that when my daughter is 19 and ready to move out that w can help support her.

  2. I never want to own another house as long as I live!! I have owned several before I was 30 and I will rent for the rest of my life! If I could get anything funded, it would be to buy I little camper and travel! 😉

  3. I would love to win $500! I would use this money to put away for my student loans, or a new typewriter!

  4. Robin Rue says

My sister got married last October and her & her new hubby are saving for a house. They are in an apartment in a suburb of Boston and they want their own place. I will tell her about this.

This would be a great thing to have towards helping the kiddies out for the future.Other thank that maybe for holiday. 🙂

We are currently trying to sell our home as we just relocated. This would be perfect for when we get our new home in our new area. I do not look forward to hunting for a new home again.

  7. Cool idea, we’ve done the buying home and selling. It’s a pain, and it’s such a strain on your bank account not to mention stress. This may make it easier for some

  8. Great idea, especially for wedding gifts. I would much rather donate to a young couple in this way than purchase something for them that might only be used once or twice a year.

  9. This is an awesome idea– would love to help the young people we love get started in life this way. I think this is a perfect graduation or wedding idea.

  10. I think all new home owners need a fund for those little touches that make a house a home. Seriously; curtains and blinds are expensive!

What a great idea. It’s perfect for wedding gifting.

This is such a great idea. It is so expensive to buy a new home and then to have to furnish it too. I am going to check into this a little more.

  13. It’s a wonderful idea. I would imagine that there are ways to do this without paying Feather the Nest a fee though because I am sure they are not doing it for free.

This is fantastic!! The thought of owning a home of my own freaks me out. Especially doing it on my own – but it’s an investment and something hopefully I’d be able to pass along to my daughter. This is a great option for folks to take advantage of – why get silly gifts that won’t be used when you can have a direct impact on people you love taking a huge step for their future. Thanks for sharing this Maria!!

  15. I would redo my patio. I have always hated it and just started a redo. I have so many ideas, but not as much funds. ha!

  16. Lawna Young says

This sounds so very helpful, especially for young families or those who need a little financial boost. I could use a feather nest myself!

  17. Rebecca Bryant says

My son’s college education is our biggest worry right now.

  18. This is very helpful. Thanks so much for sharing this. Amber N

  19. What a great project! I would use the money for my daughter’s education.

  20. I’m not sure what I would use it for. I don’t have a house at the moment, so I’d probably give it to my parents.

  21. This is a really good way to raise the funds. My hubby and I have been saving for a while now and thought we would be able to get a home this year but it looks like we will have to wait another year. Sadly we do not have anyone that would help. There’s so much I could do!!

My daughter’s future college fees instantly come to mind. She’s 14, and it won’t be long now. That time goes by very quickly.

  23. April Mims says

We are really focusing on home improvements this year and that’s getting quite expensive. Pricing a new fence was definitely sticker shock!

  24. Veronica Solomon says

This is a great competition and someone will be very lucky to win. I’m always focused on home improvement since that is what I do.

  25. Helene Bludman says

Home maintenance is so expensive. There always seems to be something that needs to be fixed or replaced, often costing hundreds or thousands of dollars.

  26. This sounds like a great program! Much like GoFundMe but targeted for people looking to invest in their first home.

  27. I would totally use this service to help purchase a house. This sounds like a great program.

  28. I would definitely use it to get our second oven installed. I love to bake and we have one, just don’t have the money to get it installed right now.

  29. I’ve seen sites like this and I think they’re such a great idea. It’s so easy and convenient and I think it’s perfect for the family as well as the couple.

  30. tannawings says

I would use it to remodel our home. I have never heard of this and cant imagine anyone giving 10K but it sure sounds good!
