Those of you who are regular readers of Tough Cookie Mommy know that, last month, I launched Operation “Buy Hubby a new phone.” He was way overdue for a new smartphone and I had grown tired of having dropped calls or having him miss important messages because his previous, outdated phone was unreliable.

I’ve heard some great things about the deals that they are offering at RadioShack this holiday season so I decided to make an in-store shopping trip to our local store. This year’s holiday shoppers will be among the first to experience RadioShack’s recently updated stores. Also, by the end of 2013, RadioShack will have made improvements to nearly all 4,300 stores throughout the nation.
I had my eye on the prize, which was buying a new phone for my husband, and I was thrilled to find out that they were running a promotion on the Samsung Galaxy S4. This is the exact phone that was on my Hubby’s wish list so I was thrilled to find out that I would be purchasing it on sale. This was my chance to Tech the Halls with the RadioShack Holiday Hub!

As soon as I arrived at our local RadioShack, I was immediately greeted by the salesperson and asked what I was shopping for this holiday season. I was very impressed by this because, many times, one enters a retail store and none of the salespeople even acknowledge that you are there. When I explained that I was shopping for a new phone for my husband, he immediately led me to their mobile device kiosk.

So far, close to 2,000 RadioShack stores have completed an overhaul and “reset” with new paint and bright interiors bearing their new logo. It was evident to me right away that this was not the old RadioShack that I was used to from years past. I definitely had a better shopping experience as I floated from technology station to technology station and checked out all of the newest products.

I was even pleasantly surprised to see that they had a whole gift-giving section for kids with all of the latest gadgets on my son’s wish list. As you can see from the photo below, I couldn’t get him away from this section and I was able to get some last minute gift ideas as he showed me his favorite items off the shelf.

Luckily for me, Hubby decided on upgrading his phone to the new Samsung Galaxy S4. Now that he is finally caught up with the technological times, he can’t stop talking about how easy it was to update his phone at RadioShack. I am hopeful that he will be more open to change now that he had such a wonderful experience there.

I love finding good deals! I have a few tech geeks in our home and they are the hardest to buy for. I know our big guy could use the Garmin GPS, for traveling with scouting events. Will take a visit and scout around for a few more ideas for my geeks, I also will definitely be picking up the batteries that we need for our other holiday gifts.
I have always found Radio Shack easier to shop then other tech stores. You definitely get better service that is for certain. I did not know that they were upgrading their look–will have to go in and check it out.
Oh wow, your hubby is going to LOVE it. My hubby and I just upgraded our iPhones last week, so I don’t really have any tech items on my Christmas list – my kids on the other hand want Wii U’s, Nintendo 3DS’s, iPads, Kindle Fires…..the list goes on and on.
Speaking of outdated phones… Mine is very, very out dated and my family has been trying to get me to get a new one for years. I keep telling them no, but better service sounds very enticing.
We love Radio Shack, it is just nice to walk into a smaller store to find what you are looking for. They usually have more personal help as well.
I would love a WII U but don’t really have any other techy things on my wish list.

Lol. I know how you feel. I am currently in the market to upgrade my phone for similar reasons. I like the phone you ended up with. It rally had amazing reviews. I am sure your husband will be very pleased with it.
I always shop at Radio Shack and find the best gifts. They have great prices too.
I just finished up my holiday shopping at Radio Shack yesterday! They have some things that my teenaged daughter just had to have this year on her wishlist. Great prices and friendly sales staff always impress me!

I have not been to a Radio Shack in years. I should go there instead of the bigger chain places for my tech goodies!
Getting my hubby to update his phone is like getting him to go to the doctor! He doesn’t like change and is not tech savvy, so he tends to stick with the same phone for years until it breaks, even though he can upgrade every two yrs.
We dont get in Radio Shack very much. I do like their gadgets!

My husband and I got kindles for each other. We were the only people in the world that didn’t own a tablet, and now we do! So excited to join everyone else in this technology! The Galaxy S4 looks like a really awesome phone!
I can’t tell the last time I went into a Radio Shack. There is one close by my house but they generally tend to be a bit more expensive so I never bother. I may just have to stop in and see what’s available now after your review.

Radio Shack is such a cute little technology store. They have the greatest gadgets and toys that you cannot find any where else. This year I am asking Santa for a tablet, probably a Galaxy.
My husband loves Radio Shack. He is always just stopping in to browse and see what new gadgets they have.
