How Would A Nexus 7 Tablet Change Your Life In 2014? @Google #Giveaway #Ad

*I participated in a campaign on behalf of Google. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating.  This is not a compensated post, however, it may contain affiliate links.  All opinions are my own.

I have always been into technology.  When I was in middle school, I remember sitting in computer class and being fascinated as we learned about the Qwerty keyboard.  Of course, that was a long time ago when computers were not as portable and technology, as we know it, has certainly come a  long way.  One device that has certainly changed my life and allows me to manage the things that matter to me is the Google Nexus 7 Tablet (7-Inch, 16GB, Black) by ASUS (2013).

When I first had the opportunity to tinker with the Nexus 7 at Google headquarters here in New York City, one of the first things that immediately caught my eye was that it gives the owner the ability to create multiple user accounts for everyone in their home.  As a parent, this was music to my ears because my boys are always using my electronic devices and I worry about monitoring their Internet usage.  By creating different user accounts for the kids, I am in complete control over what apps they have access to as well as what they are doing online.  This feature is a breath of fresh air from some of the other tablets that are currently on the market.

The Nexus 7 tablet is just absolutely sleek and portable.  From the moment that I took it out of the package, I was in awe of how light it is and how crisp and vivid the screen is.  The picture quality is just flawless and it is remarkable that a tablet with such a compact screen and size could deliver such vibrant images and videos.  It certainly has the sharpest 7 inch tablet screen that I have ever seen.

Here are 10 other things that you should know about the Google Nexus 7 (2013):

  1. It is lighter than ever and lasts longer:  At just 0.64 lbs, the new Nexus 7 is so light that you could take it anywhere.  It offers up to 9 hours of HD video playback and 10 hours of web browsing or reading.
  2. The Nexus 7 boasts the sharpest 7″ tablet screen ever:  It has a 1920×1200 HD display and is the world’s highest-resolution 7″ tablet.  With over 2.3 million pixels and 323 pixels packed into every inch, your photos and videos virtually come to life!
  3. Sound that surrounds:  Nexus 7 contains stereo speakers and virtual surround sound from Fraunhofer, the MP3 inventors, which gives you a rich and clear audio.
  4. Fast and smooth:  In collaboration with ASUS, the Nexus 7 has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 Pro quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM which just makes everything run faster.
  5. Connect from anywhere:  Dual-band and Wi-Fi along with optional 4G LTE allows you to stay entertained and connected wherever you are.
  6. Best of Google:  Nexus 7 comes with your favorite Google apps including Chrome, Maps, YouTube, Hangouts and Google Now.  They are all designed for the cloud so you can share and work seamlessly across all your devices.
  7. Powered by Android:  Nexus 7 is the first tablet to ship with Android 4.3.  Restricted profiles allows parents to enable parental controls so certain family members are prevented from accessing mature or inappropriate content.
  8. Introducing Google Play Games:  The new Play Games app allows you to track achievements, play with or against friends and discover new games.
  9. Ready to play:  Nexus 7 allows you to enjoy the largest collection of eBooks, listen to millions of music tracks and lose yourself in thousands of movies and TV shows on Google Play.
  10. Buy on Google Play:  Available at all major electronics retailers.

As an educator, the possibilities for me to use my Nexus 7 in my classroom are endless.  It will allow me to infuse technology into many of my lessons and to align rich audio visual content into my units.  I also love how I am able to enjoy it at home on my personal time.  It fits into the best parts of both of my worlds with my family and my students!

Well i’d love to have a tablet of my own, I have one for the kids that is a bit slow & I have my phone, but unfortunately the screen is broken.. it’d be nice to stay up to date with technology. I love the sound in your video review. It sounds excellent. I’ve been a big fan of google for a long time but never had the chance to try out any of their products. Thanks for the awesome review!

I always try to expose my students to an array of tech…I don’t want them to be bogged down with what ‘the best’ is, as long as it keeps you connected, I think Google is definitely on point with that.

  8. Mary Beth Elderton says

I am the last person in my family not to have a smart phone or tablet…including my grand-daughter. This would change my life by keeping me up with the family.

  9. As a social media professional and blogger with a specialty in content
marketing, community engagement and social search optimization, staying
connected wherever I am is critical. The 4G LTE option would let me
remain in touch when away from Wi-Fi, and that awesome screen would be
so much easier on these tired old eyes than my windows phone.

  10. Heather Hayes Panjon says

My husband and I have our own business (he’s a magician), and we’ve been discussing all the ways a tablet would benefit us- running his sound during shows, helping me to create client paperwork like contracts, invoices, etc. while I’m on the phone with the client, business records, directions on the go, etc. This would also help when our little one comes in January to keep us organized in everything else.

  15. Charro Mojica says

  23. chromiumman (at) mail (dot)com says

this would really make things much easier for me. i’m an old guy, the screen on my phone is way too small, i’d love to be able to run apps on a tablet so I can actually see what i’m doing.

  24. I got a new job and I don’t have a tablet. The formal way to work for me would be to go on business meetings and show presentations. I would love to whip out the tablet and meet the same clients informally for coffee with tablet in hand instead. It would position me as a pretty tech savvy person but also get me acquainted better with the clients.

  25. I’d give this to my mom. She has medical issues and spends a lot of time in bed, so it’s hard for her to sit at the desktop. This way, she could check her email and keep up with friends and family without having to leave her bed.

  26. It would help me be a lot more productive and creative when I’m away from the office by giving me the freedom to write in inspiring settings, and make it a lot easier to stay connected with friends and family when I’m traveling.

  41. erin fesperman says

The Google Nexus 7 Tablet would be a wonderful way for me to stay in touch with my grandparents in Virginia. My granny has back problems so it is hard for her to sit at a computer desk, which means she is never able to get online to email or participate in social media as much as she would like. She loves keeping up with us on Facebook and Skype. I would give this to her to help make her feel closer to her family. She could use it when she is laying down because it is so small and sleek and of course, easy to use since it has the Android/Google platform. They live waaaaaaaay out in the country so with its dual-band and Wi-Fi along and the optional 4G LTE, she will be able to connect, no matter how far out in the country she is!
