I participated in a campaign on behalf of HP. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
Recently we had the opportunity to attend a very special event with TV personality and interior designer Genevieve Gorder. We asked her all of our photo décor related questions which was especially helpful to me because I love putting photos up in our home but I never know how to arrange them. Now that HP offers unique, same-day photo creations including photo canvases and mounted photos, I knew that this was the perfect time to brush up on my wall decorating skills.
On top of that, the holidays are coming and HP’s same-day photo creations allow you to personalize and tailor gifts for all of your friends and loved ones. I love personalized gifts because I feel that they let the recipient know how important they are to you and that you took the time out to really think about their gift. Photos are a wonderful way to commemorate your most cherished memories.
It was such a pleasure to meet Genevieve Gorder because she is absolutely lovely in real life. First, she gave us a demonstration on the ways that we could warm up our walls with photos and then she was gracious enough to give us some tips that we could use to display our photo collections on our walls. Here are some of the tips that she shared:
- Get a healthy collection of photos printed out. Everything doesn’t have to match.
- Find 1 to 3 important grounding pieces to live in the collection.
- Let go a bit and stop over thinking it, just do it!
- The photos don’t have to be all black and white or all color. Just as in life variety is more beautiful.
- Mix frames and create balance or weight within the images.
Now you can celebrate all of the important moments in your life and bring life to the walls in your home at the same time. You can also give the perfect gifts just in time for the holidays by visiting HP Retail Photo Services. I can’t wait to put up all of our family photos and use the decorating tips that I learned from Genevieve Gorder!

I remember seeing Genevive on TV quite often… but I can’t remember what show she was on. I love how those pictures made that wall POP!
Such great ideas and it sounds like your were give a lot of valuable tips. Glad you had a great time.
Those were great tips she gave you and you passed on to us-thank you. I totally agree that people tend to over think when it comes to decorating walls or any other part of their home. Just go with the flow and as long as you like it-that is all that really matters anyway.
That’s so cute! It would look great in our main hall.
oh those walls look absolutely amazing! I would just love to see some of my walls decorated like that.
I love to have lots of canvas up etc,its just we have been meaning to decorate and i have not decided what i want done so all my canvas and lovely pics are being kept safely away for now..thank you for sharing 🙂

That sounds like a lot of fun! I am a huge fan of canvas prints, and HP! I actually have quite a few of them on my walls!
Oh gosh – I used to watch her on Trading Spaces and she was my favorite. How awesome that you got to attend this event and get some tips from a real pro!
I remember taking SUCH a long time to get my photos for my wall ready because I wanted them just right. I finally had to do what you said and just stop thinking, and start doing. It turned out so nice and people always stop and talk about them when they walk in the house. 🙂
Oh wow I love your photo wall I have so many pictures I really want to get up – maybe one dya I shall finally get around to it 🙂 x
I love that idea, I have been working to decorate my house for a while, this would be perfect for the living area.

THese look great, i really like the 2 pictures next to each other where the bear is in both and they look like one picture
This is awesome! I have always wanted to do some prints with the same picture connecting on 2 canvases. Thanks!–Ashley Gill
I ordered a couple of those prints and I really like how they came out. It’s a fun change of pace from a standard print.
Oooh, I love the multi-image look! Inspired now to snap some holiday photos and have some cool wall prints made!
I would love to meet Genevieve Gorder – you are a luck girl. Great ideas on hanging photos.
Very cool – I would love to do a few with my son.
This is so cool. That would be such a great time. Thank you for sharing this neat post.
I have our white plain wall in the living room that I want to give life by hanging the kids photos. Thanks for the tips!
Those are some great tips. I’ve never thought of mixing my photos up before. I usually just go with color. 🙂
I love those type of canvases. I have something similar in my living room. I would really like to update my arrangement with new pictures of the kiddos.
I want to #warmupmywalls! checking this out more!
I love canvases! I just bought one too!
This came in so handy for me as I have plenty of empty walls to fill in my new home! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I’d definitely do this once I have my own home someday.
i didn’t know that HP did these. what great ideas.
I love the split camvas prints! I could totally do that with an awesome picture of my kids I have.
I love to display photographs, but I don’t think I have any more walls to do that…:)
Perfect! I’m in the midst of creating a gallery wall for my mom, excellent tips!
I love the photo canvases so much! I wish I could have met Genevieve I have been a fan of hers for a while.
I love that she says to mix frames. We mix our frames and have always gotten weird looks because of it. I think it looks classic and warm when the frames don’t match, but “go” together.
i love the encouragement to mix and match different styles of photos.
I am so bad at decorating, I appreciate these ideas for wall photos.
These are some great ideas to decorate your walls.
