Recently I shared with you all the importance of discussing driving safety with your teen and pre-teen through the State Farm Celebrate My Drive® Campaign. As an educator of adolescents, I understand perfectly their need to be treated like young adults and the fact that they want to gain more independence. However, I also know that teens often think that they are immortal and they fail to take serious heed when it comes to the advice that we adults give them. This is especially true when it comes to driving safely.
Luckily, State Farm understands the importance of emphasizing driving safety when it comes to teen drivers and rewards their adherence to safe driving through Celebrate My Drive®. By holding young drivers accountable and asking them to make an online commitment to safe driving, many lives will be saved. Maybe next time they are called upon to make a wise and safe decision while driving, they will truly think before acting recklessly or impulsively.
An additional incentive of the Celebrate My Drive® campaign is the opportunity to register your local high school for the chance to win a $100,000 grant check as well as a concert featuring Grammy Award winner Kelly Clarkson. Research shows that sharing and celebrating positive teen driver safety messages with today’s adolescents is more effective than scaring them with the possibility of negative outcomes. This incentive is aimed at doing just that and and getting young drivers to drive carefully through the use of some positive reinforcement.
You can check to see if your local high school is registered by going to the Celebrate My Drive Website and inputting your school information. It it isn’t, you can contact the Principal of your local school and encourage him or her to register. By registering, your school will be eligible to compete for one of the 100 grants or two concerts that will be awarded through this promotion.
You can even increase your school’s chances of winning by encouraging students, staff and community members to join the online community at celebratemydrive.com between Oct. 18–26, 2013, and commit to safe driving. You are not obligated to do anything other than allow the school’s name to be listed among the participating schools on celebratemydrive.com. The added bonus is that it will drive the message to teenagers about the importance of driving safety!
To learn more tips about teen driver safety and to find out more about the Celebrate My Drive® campaign, make sure you like them on Facebook. By rallying together as a community and celebrating safe teen drivers through recognition and incentives, we will make the roads safer for all of us!

GREAT GREAT CAUSE! Such an important issue that we don’t hear enough about! Thanks for talking about it and raising awareness! WE need a smuch as we can give to it!
We actually haven’t lived in our area long enough yet for me to have figured out what our local high school is.
I’m not in high school!
What a great idea this is. I do not have children but positive reinforcement always trumps negative-even with adults. I did check and the school near me is not registered.
This is an awesome idea. My step-son is in high school and just went through drivers ed. It’s much more detailed than it was when I went through drivers-ed back in the day. Which is a good thing, right?
Our school is not registered; I entered in our principal’s email so he can get information on how to do it! As a parent of a 17 year old driver, I’m all for driving safety!!!!
My Grandkids school isn’t registered so I am going to have to find out the principals email so he can register. How fun for the school that wins to get to hear Kelly sing.

Yes – my kids school is listed. With auto accidents being the #1 killer of teens, I am so thankful for programs like this that stress the importance of safe driving. I believe that mine don’t text and drive, but I’m not sure that they don’t look at their phones while on the road, and that scares me. I try to set a good example by leaving my phone in my purse while we are in the car.
Our local highschool is NOT registered, what’s very sad! I think it’s a great program and EVERY school should be a part of it!

Hurrah I was so happy to see that our local school is listed. I was surprised to see it there too. If it hadn’t of been there I would have sent an e-mail to my son’s principal because that’s the fastest way to get him to read and respond to an inquiry.

Shenendehowa High School is registered, and is my local school. I won’t be getting in touch with them because they are registered, but if I were to do, it would be by telephone.
This is such a fantastic program and what an incentive to see Kelly Clarkson in concert. I would love to do that! It’s so important to teach teen drivers about not texting and taking the huge responsibility of being behind the wheel seriously.
My son is just a few months away from being eligible to get his learner’s permit. I’m not sure how how I feel about that! It seems like just yesterday he was on a tricycle. I want him to get all the safety messages possible!

My son attends Sterling High School and it is not registered. Our principal has teenagers and I know she would like to have our school registered, but it is not up to her. Our school board and superintendent make those decisions. We have a new superintendent this year and are voting in a new school board in November. Hopefully the changes will allow for our school to be registered, as well as other changes to occur.
