Growing up, most Latino kids knew and loved El Chavo. He spoke our language, made us laugh with his funny antics, and taught us about friendship. It didn’t matter whether you lived in New York City or Miami, we all felt connected to his kind heart and his enthusiasm. We also loved the rest of his quirky friends and his many unforgettable catchphrases such as “Eso, eso, eso!” (Thassit!, thatssit!, thassit!)
What many people don’t know is that El Chavo was also a global phenomenon and is beloved internationally as much as he is here in the United States. El Chavo is the number one family property for Latinos and the most profitable entertainment franchise in the Spanish-speaking world. Today re-runs of El Chavo del 8 are watched worldwide in over 90 countries, including the United States, Latin America, Brazil, and Spain.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with El Chavo, he is a reckless and stubborn eight-year old orphan who lives in a fictional housing complex and has funny situations daily with his friends Quico, Ñoño, Popis, Don Ramón, Doña Florinda, and Profesor Jirafales. Their interactions and shenanigans are always guaranteed to be hilarious and memorable.
The best thing is that a whole new generation of El Chavo fans will be created with the launch of the new line of toys that will be available this month through toymaker JAKKS Pacific. It’s so exciting to know that all the young people, as well as those of us adults who grew up with El Chavo, will have the chance to get to enjoy him all over again.
As you can see from the photos, my boys are enjoying learning about and playing with El Chavo and all his friends. You and your family can purchase the new line of El Chavo toys at major retailers starting in mid August. It will be a perfect opportunity to bridge the gap between generations!

My brother and I loved Muppet Babies! It was the only Saturday morning cartoon we could agree on. 🙂
We grew up with El Chavo & El Chapulin Colorado! Loved the show and the catchphrases still are part of our daily chat (Chanfle and Tenia que ser el Chavo del 8!!! ) to name a few! awesome giveaway!
I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons. Land of the Lost was one of my favorite shows.
The Show I Have Great Memories Of Was The Brady Bunch, I Remember The Brady’s Taking That Epic Trip To The Grand Canyon. I Loved The Idea Of A Huge Family .

I actually remember watching el chavo with my family. La chilindrina was my favorite. One of my favorite shows as a kid was the smurfs. I love that cartoon.
When I was a kid, there were not nearly as many options. I absolutely loved Captain Kangaroo. That show was amazing. It was on CBS every morning. Can you imagine one of the networks having kid tv on in the morning. (Although, given how poorly some of the morning shows have done, perhaps it’s time to go back to it.)
We used to watch Lamb Chop’s Play-Along when we were kids and the best memories I have were watching with my brother and singing along with all the songs!

Definitely Superfriends – favorite memory is the wonder-twins. Yeah I’m old.
I loved Gillian’s Island and I always thought they would get rescued.
I liked Double Dare because I always wanted to compete and do the obstacle course. The prizes were great.
There are so many shows that I loved as a kid. One of my favorites was Salute Your Shorts. I really wished I could have been one of those kids having that much fun at camp and making lasting memories.
I remember most is that many years ago when I was a kid me and my sisters always we saw el chavo with my uncle one that is a little sick in the head already so excited to see him, it was lost or a chapter, I knew aq time began and ran to the room of my grandmother lay your dog on your lap and it stuck wing TV until finished, and then we escort him and lost a bit of interest in the program but my uncle told us about all the time and volvinmos to fall lol and till date he still loves him, but the actual chavo. thanks for the opportunity.
I loved watching Rugrats. I really enjoyed this show because it was one of the few shows my mama loved to watch with me.
Bozo the Clown! My brother and I loved to eat our morning cereal in front of the tv watching this. It was one of our favorite shoes. The Monkeys was another one. We would beg to stay up to 8:30 so we could watch it!
I remember watching Romper Room and every day hoping she would say – in my magic mirror, I see Janice – said my sisters names more but when she said Janice, I would get so happy!
Romper room was the one show that was my favorite and I watched it ever morning, I was always upset when she didn’t say my name. I also liked Captain Kangaroo.
Reading Rainbow! It was my favorite show as a kid.
