As many of you know, this past week I attended a blogging conference and took my family along for the trip. We had never visited Chicago before and I wanted to make sure that we stayed at the right hotel which would take my family’s comfort into complete consideration. Although this trip was a mixture of business and pleasure, my main priority is always making sure that my family is happy whenever we travel.
The Reservations Manager of the Hyatt McCormick, Liz, went above and beyond to ensure that all of our needs were met once we arrived in Chicago. I can honestly say that there wasn’t an email that I sent her that ever went unanswered and her attention to detail was exemplary. She was very personable and professional and was always available to address any of my questions and concerns before and during our stay at the hotel.
Due to the current costs of airfare along with the fact that we love taking road trips, we decided to take the thirteen plus hour drive back and forth from New York City to Chicago. As a result, we arrived in Chicago roughly after 1 a.m. CST. We were very tired from the long drive but beyond excited to have finally arrived at our destination.
As my husband and younger son waited in the car, my older son and I entered the hotel lobby in order to check in and we were immediately impressed with their luxurious front desk. It is very modern and behind it, Joshua immediately greeted us and made us feel welcome. He checked us in, made small talk with my son and answered all of my questions. I could tell that our stay was off to a good start!
Aaron helped us up to our room with our bags and was kind enough to discuss all of the meal options and conveniences that the hotel offered on our ride up to the room in the elevator. We had the pleasure of staying in the Skyline Suite and I cannot even begin to describe how gorgeous the views from the room were so I’ll just let the photo below do the talking for me!
The Skyline Suite is perfect for families because it features two rooms which include the bedroom, a living room area, kitchen, and dining area. It had all of the comforts of home and was impeccably clean at all times. The cleaning staff did a great job of cleaning our room and they provided me with any essentials and toiletries that I asked them for. I’m sure it was no easy task cleaning up after my husband and my two boys!
Every morning we ate breakfast at their Shor Restaurant and enjoyed their delectable breakfast buffet. Our server, Laura was very friendly and catered to all of our needs. She even discussed local tourist attractions with us and ways of getting there and saving money through taking advantage of public transportation. Her tips were very helpful. The food in the buffet was hot and delicious. They had everything from gourmet omelettes made-to-order, to breakfast pastries and breads. Even my seven-year old picky eater found foods that he enjoyed eating.
My husband loved that their Stay Fit gym was open 24 hours and he could go work out whenever he wanted. The gym is equipped with the latest exercise equipment, a sauna, male and female locker rooms, and flat screen televisions. As you can see, Hubby wasn’t the only one working out in the gym!
Our boys really enjoyed the indoor pool which has easy access to the locker rooms with showers and bathrooms. I was able to bring my laptop and sit in the outdoor patio while they all frolicked for hours with other families and kids in the pool.
During our stay, I had the opportunity to visit other hotels in order to attend business events and they paled in comparison to the Hyatt McCormick in all aspects including cleanliness, customer service, convenience in location, meal options, and price. Additionally, if you are attending any events at the conference center, it is easily accessible via Sky Walk from the hotel.
We recommend the Hyatt McCormick without any reservations and will certainly be staying there whenever we visit Chicago. You can check out the hotel, all of its amenities, and even make a reservation for your next trip by visiting their website. Next time you are in Chicago, make sure you stay there and tell them Tough Cookie Mommy sent you!

The hotel looks great and your suite looks amazing!!!!!
Beautiful suite. I love that is the perfect size for larger families. We have trouble finding rooms suitable for the six of us. I’ve never been to Chicago, but seeing all the beautiful photos posted over the week sure makes me want to visit.
2 bathrooms! The view was gorgeous. Sounds like a lovely place. Will keep it on my list of kid friendly hotels.
That looks like a lovely place to stay and perfect for a family to stay and enjoy themselves.
This looks like an awesome hotel. I love when real people take pics of hotels and share them because then you know what things really looked like without staging. I’ve stayed at a few Hyatt Regency hotels and really liked them. This looks like a great one to check out with my family.
What an awesome Hotel!
That looks like such a nice hotel! I think indoor pools are the best when you have young kids. No chance of getting sunburned and I could always sit in the shade!
The rooms look big and the gym and pool look awesome. The view was nice looking as well. Glad you had a great time.
My in-laws are in Chicago, it is a great city!
