The Summer can be a great time to spend some quality time with your family and to enjoy some fun outdoor activities with your children. It is important to keep kids engaged during their vacation from school so that they can be productive during their time off. There are many exciting activities that you can do with your kids that can help them to nurture and foster their interests and to teach them how to set and accomplish personal goals.
Personally, we love to get outside during the warm weather and have some fun together riding our bikes. It allows all of us to enjoy some fresh air while getting some great exercise. We also take the time to enjoy the scenery and nature around our neighborhood while we ride together and laugh and talk together. I can’t think of a better outdoor activity to get our boys up and about during the Summer.
Since we have a family full of boys, they are full of energy and we have to come up with activities for them that will allow them to channel some of this energy productively. This all begins with eating a good breakfast every morning which provides them with the necessary nutrients and vitamins that their bodies will need throughout the day to help them to concentrate and function.
Here are some of the Big Day Outdoor activities that we have planned for our boys this Summer:
- Family bicycle race
- Backyard scavenger hunt
- Water balloon wars
- Family dance off
- Sidewalk chalk drawing exhibits
Foods that are rich in whole grains like Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats provide them with the nutrition that they will need to tackle the Big Day ahead. It also gives them 22% of their daily value of dietary fiber which is exactly what kids need to stay full and focused and to start them on the right path every morning.
Make sure you check out Scholastic for more great tips on how you can plan a Big Day for your kids this Summer! There is a world of possibilities when it comes to the activities you can plan and these will be the memories that will last them a lifetime!
Let’s Discuss: What are some Big Day activities that you have planned for your children this Summer?

We’ve been doing a lot of swimming in the pool and beach days. It’s so hot down here even a bike ride takes a lot out of you. As soon as we catch a break from the heat we will be scheduling some bike riding time and some basketball.
We try to get together with friends we never get to see other times of years.
We love swimming, but it is seriously too hot to even go swimming since we are having a big heat wave. It is so hot that it is painful. Can’t wait for the heat wave to end. Once it does, we’ll definitely be up for lots of swimming since my little guy seems to be part fish! 🙂 BTW – we have Frosted Mini Wheats in our pantry right now because I love all of the fiber.
We love going to our local parks, they just love it!
Well the library is a big deal for my family during the summer. We also have been doing water days with buckets and the sprinkler. This Saturday we took the baby for his first trip to the beach and that was a blast.
We love to hang out at the park, too.. always a lot of fun and the kids get all the energy out and fall into bed 🙂
My son loves Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats. He eats it out of the box.
Wow, you really do have a family of boys :). Frosted Miniwheats are one of the very few healthier cereals that my kids like.
Great games for summer! And when the boys get hungry.. ta da, give them the Frosted Mini Wheats.. they will surely love it! 😉
