Building a healthy lifestyle and practicing good eating habits are very important to a person’s overall health. According to a study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine, it has been found that the Mediterranean Diet decreases a person’s chance of having a heart attack, having a stroke, or dying from cardiovascular disease. People who enjoy meals that adhere to the Mediterranean Diet make a conscious decision to replace red meats and sweets with a balanced diet of fruits, vegetable, olive oil, nuts, whole grains, seafood, poultry and certain dairy products.
Although I have not made the transition to the Mediterranean Diet, I personally understand the impact that cutting sugar out of a person’s diet has on their overall health. For health reasons, I almost completely cut sugar out of my diet a little over a year ago and have lost sixty pounds as a result of it. Now, that’s not to say that it was the only lifestyle change that I made. I also focused more on portion control and the types of carbohydrates that I include in my meals. Although I still have a long way to go to reach my ideal weight, I believe that this decision was a step in the right direction for me.

I’ve heard of the Mediterranean diet. It’s supposed to be about the healthiest diet you can follow.
Mediterranean is my favorite type of food. I love lots of salad and hummus!
I really like Mediterranean salads. They’re light but filling. I love olives so that’s another plus.
I know that I should eat this way more but it is difficult to always do. I really need to make a list of all the foods and recipes that I can eat and keep it close by. Thanks.
Sweet pepper strips – they sound delish!
