It’s ironic that I was going to write this post today because I am suffering terribly from allergies this week. My allergies came on in full force around Wednesday afternoon with a variety of the usual symptoms including a scratchy throat, a stuffy nose, and itchy and watery eyes. Things have only gotten worse and today I feel like my head is literally going to explode with the congestion.
Unfortunately, allergy symptoms not only make you feel terrible but they also wreak havoc on your facial appearance by making your eyes glassy, causing your skin to swell and look blotchy, and making the skin under your nose raw and red from continuous nose blowing. As you can see from the photo below, I’m suffering from a full blown case of what is commonly referred to as “ALLERGY FACE™” :
Looking my best is very important to me so I am always seeking ways to diminish the appearance of my Allergy Face and maintain my usual appearance. This is by no means an easy task during this time of the year when allergy triggers are at their peak. Luckily, the makers of ZYRTEC® have partnered with beauty and fashion expert, Carmen Ordoñez from VivaFashionBlog.com, to help women combat ALLERGY FACE™. Studies show that 96 percent of women suffering from allergy symptoms experience this phenomenon where they have watery eyes, a puffy face, and a red nose.
To help you feel and look your best this Spring, Carmen has some great tips for battling the typical effects of ALLERGY FACE™ which include:
- How to Disguise a Red Nose: Use a foundation or bronzer with a dewy or shimmery finish instead of a matte finish, which will only highlight dryness.
- How to Contour a Puffy Face: Using an angle brush, apply a bronzer with brown undertones parallel to your jawline to help contour your face. Make sure it’s only one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone as you don’t want to overdo it.
- How to Distract from Watery Eyes: Dab a white or silver shimmery eye shadow in the inner corner of your eyes.
Be on the lookout for parts two and three of Carmen’s video series and make sure you follow her at @VivaFashion on Twitter for her latest tips and tricks on how to stay beautiful despite ALLERGY FACE™. Also, you can take advantage of product savings and rewards to help you feel and look your best during this and every allergy season by visiting Zyrtec.com and liking Zyrtec on Facebook.
Let’s Discuss: What are YOUR favorite beauty tips to help combat ALLERGY FACE™ beauty challenges?

Thank you for the tips. I as well have been suffering from Allergies and have been pretty miserable. I love to work in the garden, so I have to tough it out without meds until I stop nursing.
Oh! I have allergy face too. There is nothing worse than being puffy and looking like you are crying when out in public. Of course, I have noticed people try to be nice to me because they think something is wrong. ha!
We have pretty bad allergies here too. North Texas is awful for allergies.
I’ve been having worse allergies problems this season than I’ve had in years. I had to stop wearing eye makeup its been so bad. I take a Zyrtec every day and it is a lifesaver. My biggest problems are when one starts wearing off and when I take the next one.
This year our allergies have been extremely bad… I totally feel for you and soo glad that Zyrtec is helping you make it through the day.. LOVED your beauty tips.. I always forget, by the time I feel better I have no time for makeup..LOVED reading them, thank you
