I’ve always been a big music fan and I greatly enjoy listening to new artists so that I can support new talent and share great music with all of my friends and family. Most of the time, radio and television stations only play popular music so we end up listening to the same artists and the same songs over and over. Through the years, I’ve had to get a little creative in order to discover new artists and I’m so glad that thought outside the box because I’ve heard great music this way.
Believe it or not, television shows, and commercials are great resources for discovering new songs. How many times have you heard a commercial jingle or the theme song to one of your favorite songs and wondered who the artist was singing it? This has happened to me many times and it prompted me to conduct a little research in order to identify not only the artist but the song. In many cases, I end up listening to other songs that the artist in question has done and it exposes me to a whole new sound.
My boys love hearing new songs while watching television!
Going to the movies is another great way to become exposed to new artists and new sounds. Often, movies will have a soundtrack that is aligned with the theme of the film. As a matter of fact, you can see the names of the artists and the songs on the soundtrack in the credits at the end of the movie. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have sat in the theater well after everyone has left just to see the credits until the end in order to identify a particular song that I enjoyed throughout the movie.
Another great way to stay ahead of the game when it comes to new artists and upcoming releases is by visiting the entertainment tab at Target.com. Here you can find out about new and emerging music artists and even read reviews from other musical connoisseurs. Also, you can pre-order new releases and even have exclusive access to songs found only at Target. It’s a great place to check out all the latest must-hear music!

When I hear a song I don’t know I google certain lyrics as I’m listening and the song usually pops up.
Word of mouth…Pandora usually..I’ll type in an Artist I like and it’ll play other similar artists. =) I love music too!
I usually listen to Spotify!
I watch *Austin City Limits* and *Jools Holland* and always find new artists I love! I also subscribe to a blog that features new music every week, and have often found great stuff there.

I discover new music through my husband who is always listening to music, discovering new songs and artists. I don’t listen to music as much as he does and I tend to listen to what I know. He is always on the lookout for new stuff.
I use pandora a lot to expand across genres, but I was exposed to a whole range of music as a kid so I’m always actively hunting for something new, either via youtube or the radio or just recommendations from others!
I discover new music when I listen to random radio stations. There is a lot of good music out there if you search for it.
I listen to the radio on my way to and from work. Not only do I learn new songs, but I also hear news that I probably wouldn’t hear otherwise. That half hour commute is good for finding new music. At least something good comes of it!

I usually discover new music by listening to the radio or when I watch music television programs. Another way is by music Apps like Pandora one of my favorites.

I have 10 different music stations programed on my car radio and i love to change from channel to channel as I drive so I can hear lots of different types of music and can sometimes catch new songs. I have a few different ways of discovering different music. Pandora is awesome and gives you songs similar to the ones you like. I’ve found a lot of music through Sirius XM on the tv, and also hearing songs that my roommates listen to in college.
I usually discover someone new by word of mouth or if that band is an opener at the concert I attend.

I used to collect soundtracks! I loved listening to soundtracks because if I find an artist I like on the soundtrack I will usually buy their cd. It’s like a sampler cd! Otherwise I will listen to channels on Rhapsody and check out editor picks to find new music.
I usually find out about new music online. I listen to Pandora and will hear songs and bands that I hadn’t heard before and discover that I really like.
I listen to my favorite radio stations. I search on youtube. I google artists in the genre I’m interested in and they sometimes have samples to listen to on websites.
I listen to the radio pretty often and find a lot of new music that appeals to me that way. Also, I sometimes hear music on television shows and then ferret out the singer(s) and the title of the song!

I discover new music a lot by watching television, believe it or not! David Letterman always has new artists on and other talk shows as well. Also, I’ll catch new songs while listening to the radio in my car.

I love to hear new music on TV! So many times I will hear a contestant sing a song that I have never heard before, and I have to go and listen to the original artist sing it! I also love to listen to the radio while in the car and find new great music there!
I usually discover new music through my nieces who are much younger than I am (and actually keeping up with trends!). I also learn of new artists when watching Saturday Night Live.
compilations is another I will use to find music. My husband loves music so I will usually end up listening to what he listens to.
