Those of you who have been following Tough Cookie Mommy for awhile know that I love trying out family-friendly products that not only make my life easier, but also fit in to our busy and hectic schedules. This is especially true in our kitchen and when it comes to preparing meals. We prepare meals on-the-go and need foods and cooking utensils that don’t require a lot of time and energy.
In our home, the spatula is probably the most commonly used cooking utensil. We use it for everything from frying eggs in the pan to doling out butter from the tub. It is constantly being used and gets a lot of cooking action so we have damaged our share of spatulas during the years due to normal wear and tear.
The opportunity to review the GIR Spatula came at the perfect time because my husband had just recently left our old spatula on the stove and its wooden handle was burnt to a crisp. Besides the fact that we desperately needed a new spatula, I welcomed a chance to try one out that promised to be different than all of the previous ones that we have used over the years.
Here are some of the qualities that separate the GIR Spatula from other spatulas currently on the market: It is made of molded silicone and is heat resistant being able to withstand temperatures up to 464 degrees Fahrenheit. Its solid body construction and engineered blade functionality make it more durable than other similar products.
Unlike other spatulas, you don’t have to worry about it:
-Coming apart
-Trapping food and oil in its crevices
-Having a stiff blade
-Containing a wooden handle that burns easily
-Not being dishwasher friendly
As soon as I removed it from its package, I tested its flexibility by bending it back and forth with my fingers. The blade was very flexible but firm enough to cook heavier foods.
I decided to use it to heat up beans for some meat tacos that I was preparing and it maneuvered the solids and liquids in the pan perfectly.
Lastly, I held it over the heat on the stove to see if it would melt or get too hot to hold. You can see that I was able to hold it with my bare hands despite the fact that I had held it over the fire.
I give the GIR Spatula the Tough Cookie Mommy seal of approval for functionality and a great look! It really came through on all of the cooking points that it promises. You can check it out in all eleven of its bright colors by visiting the GIR website. Maybe there is such a thing as the “Perfect Spatula.”
