If you are anything like me, you have your whole life on your smartphone. I control every aspect of my life, work, and business from my phone and all of my important information is saved on it in order to facilitate all of the work that I do with it. Protecting myself in the event of a mobile mishap never really occurred to me until a couple of years ago when something unthinkable happened to my phone.
My husband and I attended a gathering that was scheduled at a local lounge by some of my co-workers to celebrate before going on Christmas vacation. We spent a few hours there and headed home after having a great time. While we were on the highway, I decided to call my mother to check on my sons since she was baby-sitting for us. After speaking to her I placed my phone on my lap and didn’t think about it again.
Fast forward to a couple of hours later after we had already been home for awhile…I began to frantically search for my phone in order to check on some emails and realized that I just could not figure out where I had left it. Finally, I remembered that I had last used the phone in the car so I quickly ran out to the driveway to check the front seat of the car.
Unfortunately, the phone was not in the car because it had dropped off my lap when I stepped out into the driveway. Neither my husband or I realized that the phone had fallen so he backed up over the phone with the car a few times that evening as he came back and forth running errands. I ended up with a flat smartphone that looked like a pancake and said goodbye to all of the important information that was on my phone.
Asurion’s Mobile Apps are filled with features to protect a consumer’s privacy and safeguard their personal contacts, photos, and videos. They allow you to have control over which apps can access phone contents and capabilities and they help you locate and secure your smartphone if it ever goes missing. With an estimated 80,000,000 cell phones lost, stolen or damaged each year, almost everyone can relate to dealing with a mobile mishap.

If you think that you are exempt from experiencing mobile mishaps, you might be surprised to find out that it happens a lot more often than you might think:
-50% of all people claim that they lose or misplace their cell phones at least once a month.
-53% of users say that they are unaware of security software for smartphones.
-95% of the time people who find lost smartphones try to access sensitive data or accounts on those phones-which can include email, online banking, photos, and more.
Make sure you visit Asurion’s website where you can find advice for protecting mobile phones and some phone-loss “horror stories.” Once you educate yourself, you will realize that it is better to be safe now than sorry later.
