Check Out Heelys Radical New Styles And Win A Pair Of Your Own!

There is something exciting about trying on a new pair of sneakers  This is especially true when those sneakers also feature serious skating capability.  Heelys Inc. has just released their 2012 line which boasts two new designs which are significantly different from any previous Heelys models.  The company’s aim was to add some diversity to their previous line while updating classic designs that we have all grown to know and love.

Heelys have one or more wheels embedded into their soles and are very similar to inline skates.  The new Heelys models have an athletic design lighter than any previous Heelys on the market.  Additionally, they have added a lifestyle design specifically geared towards girls.  This certainly makes Heelys more versatile for all wearers and their individual tastes.

The new athletic design, called Swift, features a compression molded EVA midsole which makes it lightweight and incredibly flexible in terms of the color and shape of the sole.  Its strategically placed rubber tread also allows for maximum grip.  They are so light that you will be able to go all day long!

Keeping girls in mind, the new lifestyle designs feature a raised heel that can be paired with skirts, shorts, or jeans.  It’s Socialite design was inspired by the classic Mary Jane look and contains flower-shaped buckles, contrast stitching and patent leather accents.  This line was designed exclusively for girls with the needs of girls totally in mind.

The new styles are all single wheeled Heelys which are for more experienced skaters such as tweens, teens and adults.  The younger crowd can try the new HX2 designs which are geared towards beginners and are double-wheeled.  They have removable wheels for better balance and control.  By popping out both wheels, the HX2 Heelys are converted into regular street shoes, making them ideal for any outdoor activity just like regular sneakers.

We had the opportunity to review a pair of Heelys from the HX2 line in one of their new designs called Spin.  My six year old actually picked them out and was thrilled at their tire details and real flashing lights.  I loved that they had elastic laces and velcro which allowed him to easily take them on and off.  We were also very surprised at how lightweight they were.  Even after attaching the wheels, they were not heavy at all.

A few things to bear in mind are that the Heelys can be worn with or without the wheels.  It is important that you adhere to all of the safety instructions and precautions outlined in the box before you wear them or allow your child to wear them with the wheels.**  At first, my son held on to his brother as he got comfortable maneuvering and stopping.  After awhile, he seemed to get the hang of it fairly quickly.

Overall, we were very pleased with our Heelys and I look forward to watching my son skate around the way that his father and I did when we were kids.  You can also connect with Heelys on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitter and find out about their other exciting new styles!
