Make Your Everyday Life And The Holidays Even Better! #NYTough #Giveaway #AdPG

Living in New York has always been an amazing experience.  It's a city that is full of life and a melting pot for many nationalities and cultures.  Those of us who reside here are cut from a different cloth and tend to exhibit a sense of strength that radiates from within.  I've always said that if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere.     During the holidays, you can literally sense the excitement in the air and the city is bustling with many festivities and sights to experience and take in. This time is also a very hectic time for most of us New Yorkers because we have to carry groceries and packages on mass transit as well as make sure that our homes are festively decorated for our families.     In our family, we love having this time to spend with our family and those who matter the most in our lives.  It's the perfect opportunity to celebrate with one another and to feast on some of our traditional foods.  Of course, this also means that there is a big … [Read more...]

Experience The Magic Of Radio City Christmas Spectacular! #RadioCityChristmas @RCChristmas #Ad

Most New Yorkers will tell you that there are certain magical events and locations that define the holiday season here in New York City.  Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of attending the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the iconic Radio City Music Hall.  Just seeing the beautiful and talented Rockettes in the commercials on television made me realize that seeing this event live would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.     Recently, I had the privilege of not only attending the Radio City Christmas Spectacular with my family but of visiting the famous Roxy Suite at Radio City.  This suite is normally reserved for Radio City performers and VIPs like Elton John, Dave Matthews and Paul McCartney.  It boasts 20-foot-high domed ceilings made of real gold, cherrywood walls and an intimate dining area.  I could literally feel the spirit of the room's history while I was in it.     This year's Radio City Christmas Spectacular includes dynamic songs and dance … [Read more...]

Fall Pumpkin Picking Tips

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of taking the family to visit Prospect Hill Orchards in the beautiful Hudson Valley in New York State.  You can pick your own apples, pears and pumpkins there and it is very family-friendly.     We've never been pumpkin picking before so we were very excited to see all of the different pumpkin varieties and to decide on just the right ones for our Fall and Halloween decor. The truth is that I knew very little about picking just the right pumpkins before we set out on our adventure.  I did a little research to find out how to pick a pumpkin prior to heading out.     Many of you will probably be picking or purchasing your own pumpkins now that we are heading into the month of October and the season for Halloween.  I figured you could probably use some pumpkin picking tips too. Here is what I learned about picking the right pumpkin: It is much better to pick your own pumpkin at a pumpkin patch than purchasing one at the store. … [Read more...]

Keep Teens Safe: Free Teen Drive Safety Clinics In NY And NJ! #TeenDrive365 @Toyota #Ad

*This is part of a sponsored campaign with Toyota. However, all opinions expressed are my own.       As a parent of a Tween here in New York City, I know that it is only a matter of time before he is old enough to want to go and get his driving permit.  Although I understand his excitement at being able drive and asserting his independence, I worry about him driving safely in an urban environment.  I was a teenager once so I understand how peer pressure and the fact that teenagers think they are invincible can be a dangerous combination when it comes to driving.     Looking back on when I started driving, I wish someone would have taught me how to do some basic upkeep on my car.  It would have been great to know how to check the oil and possibly change a tire back when I was driving around in my old jalopy.  It's actually quite embarrassing how many times I became stranded on the side of the road and had to call my parents to come and pick me up because something went … [Read more...]

Unlock An Unexpected Dose Of Joy! #MusicToYourNose @GainLatino @Gain #Giveaway #Ad

*I participated in this campaign on behalf of Gain. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating. All opinions are my own.     Many people don't know a lot about the Bronx aside from what they have seen on television or in the movies.  This borough of New York City is often depicted in a less than favorable light and we don't get the credit that we deserve for being full of decent and hardworking people.  That is why I was so excited when I found out that Gain was coming to the Bronx to transform local neighborhood laundromats into something special.  I immediately knew that this would help to spread an unexpected dose of joy throughout our community!     This past Friday, I had the pleasure of meeting Bronx-born musician Leslie Grace, who has partnered with Gain, to showcase how art, music and culture collide to celebrate the launch of six community-decorated Laundromats throughout the Bronx, Spanish Harlem and Washington … [Read more...]

We Visited Legoland Discovery Center! @LDCWestchester #LegolandNYC #Ad

*I participated in this campaign on behalf of Legoland Discovery Centers US. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating. All opinions are my own.        When I was a little girl, my younger brother had so much Lego® that we used to build magnificent structures and pretend play for hours on end.  There are just so many great memories that I associate with these building blocks that revolve around family and togetherness.     This past Easter weekend, my husband and I decided that we wanted to plan a fun family outing after attending mass in the morning.  Sunday is the day that we are both off from work and our boys are off from school and it is important to be able to spend quality time together.  Our destination of choice was the Legoland Discovery Center in Westchester, NY within the Ridge Hill shopping district.     Both of our boys are huge Lego® fans and have used them since they were toddlers to spend … [Read more...]

Support Kids Walk For Kids With Cancer! #KidsWalk #WalkWithUs @KidsWalkMSKCC

As many of you are aware, I am a six year Leukemia Survivor.  Receiving a Cancer diagnosis is devastating at any age, however, it is especially horrific when a child is diagnosed with this disease.  It's every parents' worst nightmare and, unfortunately, the reality is that Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children.  Each day 46 children will be diagnosed with Cancer-this number is equivalent to the number of seats that it takes to fill a school bus.     Pediatric Cancer research is severely underfunded which is why Kids Walk For Kids With Cancer is such an important event.  In 2001, a group of 8th grade students in Brooklyn, NY decided to raise funds to help cure pediatric Cancer.  One of the students had a little brother who was finishing treatment for stage IV neuroblastoma at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center so this cause was deeply personal to him.     These 8th graders raised $35,000 through their walkathon and, since then, new teams continue to … [Read more...]

Brave The Cold With Flipeez Action Hats! @idvproducts #Ad

*I participated in this campaign on behalf of Idea Village Products. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating.  All opinions are my own.       Last week, we had one really warm day and I think most of us were tricked into thinking that spring was finally on its way.  Unfortunately, that was not the case and it continues to be cold and windy here in New York City.     I always make sure that both of my boys have warm coats, gloves, hats and scarves because they are both asthmatic and I worry about them getting sick in these freezing temperatures.  Unfortunately, there isn't as much variety in boys' fashion and outer garments are there are in the girls' clothing department.     If you are like me, you want your boys to look adorable while staying warm and dry during the winter.  Flipeez Action Hats not only come in a variety of colors and styles, but they also have animal hats with fun actions like popping ears and … [Read more...]

Take Your Family To See Mr. Peabody & Sherman This Weekend! #MrPeabody @DWAnimation #Ad

*I participated in this campaign on behalf of DreamWorks Animation. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating.  All opinions are my own.     Recently, my sons, nephews and I had the pleasure of attending the screening of Mr. Peabody & Sherman in New York City.  We were all very excited to see the film version of this timeless classic.  All of us had already become enamored with the characters that we were introduced to in the previews that we had seen.     The film is centered around Mr. Peabody, who is an intelligent dog who speaks and lives in the human world, and his son Sherman who is a real boy. Together they use their time machine, called the WABAC, to have some amazing adventures.  When Sherman takes the WABAC for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they rip a hole in the universe and end up altering some of the most famous events in world history.  Luckily, Mr. Peabody comes to the rescue and, in the process … [Read more...]
