Affordable Housing Community Coming To The Bronx

Anyone who lives in New York City can tell you that it can sometimes be very expensive to live here.  Most New Yorkers cannot afford to live in Manhattan so they reside in the outer boroughs where real estate is a little more affordable.  There have been some recent exciting changes here in the Bronx and that includes the availability of affordable housing options that are accessible to everyone.     The new Gouverneur Place Apartments boast a development which includes 68 units and provide support services for those who suffer from mental health related disabilities.  The building will be located in the Bronx and offer affordable housing without compromising quality.  Recently, community advocates, proponents of affordable-housing and investment partners participated in a guided tour to observe the progress of this project.     Many people who have been unable to secure affordable housing options will benefit from this new construction.  The seven-story affordable-housing … [Read more...]

Bring Your Family To Burger King This Month For Angry Birds™Merchandise! @BurgerKing #Ad

We experienced the first major snowfall of the season here in New York City today.  Of course, in our home that also means that the cold weather will cause our youngest son to suffer from asthma throughout the winter.  Right on time, he got sick last night and we had to take him to the pediatrician this morning.  On our way out of the doctor's office, he asked me if he could have a treat for being such a good boy and I replied that he could.  I knew that the perfect reward was to take him to Burger King to enjoy a kid's meal because they are featuring Angry Birds™ Merchandise all month long!     Our local Burger King is really beautiful as it was recently remodeled and is very family-friendly.  If you live in or plan to visit the Bronx, you should definitely stop by and grab a bite as it is located at 1590 Hutchinson River Parkway.  Since my son wasn't feeling well, I knew this was the perfect inviting environment to get him to eat a little something and drink so he could stay … [Read more...]

Unlock An Unexpected Dose Of Joy! #MusicToYourNose @GainLatino @Gain #Giveaway #Ad

*I participated in this campaign on behalf of Gain. I received a promotional item to facilitate this review and as a thank you item for participating. All opinions are my own.     Many people don't know a lot about the Bronx aside from what they have seen on television or in the movies.  This borough of New York City is often depicted in a less than favorable light and we don't get the credit that we deserve for being full of decent and hardworking people.  That is why I was so excited when I found out that Gain was coming to the Bronx to transform local neighborhood laundromats into something special.  I immediately knew that this would help to spread an unexpected dose of joy throughout our community!     This past Friday, I had the pleasure of meeting Bronx-born musician Leslie Grace, who has partnered with Gain, to showcase how art, music and culture collide to celebrate the launch of six community-decorated Laundromats throughout the Bronx, Spanish Harlem and Washington … [Read more...]

Protect Your Loved Ones From The Sun’s Harsh Effects #NTGBeautifulInsideOut #Ad

*This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Neutrogena and Latina Bloggers Connect. All opinions are 100% mine.     Normally I am the mom who prides herself on always being prepared for whatever situation arises regarding my family.  You will find everything from band-aids to sunblock in my purse on any given day and my husband and children have come to rely on my constant preparedness.     Last week, my family and I took a mini-vacation to a local water resort and, as usual, I packed all of our bags the night before and made sure that we would have all of the clothing and necessities that we required on this excursion.  At least I thought I had packed all of the essentials...You see, when we settled into our lounge chairs by the pool, I realized that I had forgotten to pack sunblock.     You are probably wondering why I would forget to pack sunblock on a family vacation but there is actually a very good explanation.  I expected us to spend all of our time in the … [Read more...]

Tragedy Struck Close To Home Today…

This morning, a tragic event took place in my neighborhood, right around the corner from my house.  It all started at approximately 7:45 a.m.  I was driving to work and talking to my mother on the Bluetooth while I was driving.  While we were talking, I heard the faint sound of sirens in the background behind her and remember thinking it was weird because we live in a very quiet community where you hardly hear any city sounds at all.  Since I was rushing to get to work, I never even had time to ask her what was going on and eventually ended the conversation and entered my job.     Fast forward to this afternoon, I am driving home from work when I notice at least 4 different news vans parked all around the corner at the end of my block.  I immediately started wondering if the sirens I had heard that morning while I was talking to my Mom had anything to do with it.  Without stopping, I drove up to my house and called my husband who proceeded to tell me that a fire had broken … [Read more...]
